[SLE] Finally! A working Geforce 2 GTS and Suse 7.0

After a week of struggling, I finally got it to work. I'm running KDE2 and it looks great. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and insight ... I even have Quake3 and Unreal Tournament running on a 1280x1024x24 bit screen. Beautiful and run quickly (at about the same speed as Windows 2000) I am so relieved ... but the nvidia 0.95 driver as supplied from Suse doesn't want to run on an SMP system, so for right now I'm using a single processor system. I tried to compile it while running an SMP kernel but sax2 keeps complaining about the nvidia driver not matching the kernel... anyone know what I might be doing wrong? [SLE] gforce mx dramas again

So i went and bought 7.0 as I thought it would be useful, I made a copy of all the X config files I would need. and set about reinstalling and following the 4.01 upgrade as before. now I get caught signal 11 - exiting what does this mean this is now ridiculous. [SLE] Mount & users

Dear all, On my new SuSE 7.0 system whenever a user tries to mount the cd or the floppy he gets a message saying only root can mount things though I have edited /etc/fstab to include the user option for both devices. What else do I have to do? [SLE] CDR proggies for X11

Greets peeps. I have recently ( < 2 hours ago ) acquired myself a SCSI CDRW drive. (Have yet to install it!) Although I am by no means new to Linux, I am new to burning CDs under Linux. I am looking for "the best" X11-based burning software. I did a search over at freshmeat and naturally came across a handful of cute proggies. Rather than chance one or the other, I'd rather get a feel from my fellow SuSE users as to which program to take a shot with. Any and all comments/suggestions are welcome! I will be busy for the next hour or so installing the hardware. :) Regards, kw PS -- I am aware that most if not all the burning programs out there are merely frontends for cdrecord and/or mkiosfs. [SLE] XFree86 4.0 and Thinkpad 600X

Hi all, I've been trying to install SuSE 7.0 pro on my Thinkpad 600X with only partial success. SuSE 6.4 had no problems, but 7.0 and my thinkpad have decided that they don't really like each other. Sax2 does not even find a screen and gives up immediately. I can't find XF86Setup and running xf86config generates an XF86Config file that X itself doesn't like. The specific error message is that the word "SubSection" is not a Module section keyword. Yast2 doesn't like the computer either apparently, because it does everything in ASCII, making it impossible to read package descriptions. [SLE] Backing up MySQL database ..

Hi all, Whats the most efficient way to backup the MySQL database on my Hosting Company's servers ? They've given me a web interface to MySQL . The best I can do with this interface is a text-dump . Should I ask them for SSH access ?
