[SLE] Diald on SuSE 6.2?

[SLE] Half-Life and porting games

Hello, Sorry if this is a bit OT, but I would like to know if anyone has any info as to if Half-Life has been or is ported to Linux and if not does anyone have any clue or heard rumors as to if it ever will be? P.S. I have heard it works under Wine, but I would rather see a whole port of the game like Quake2. [SLE] Slow downloadss

I have my new SuSE 6.3 running and I love it! Two minor problems, though. (1) Wvdial doesn't recognize my modem as being installed, and (2) kppp works but the transfer speeds are so s-l-o-w. I have a 56K modem that connects at 115200 (according to kppp) but trransfer speeds are less than 100 b/s in KDE and less than 1 kb/s. Do I has something configured wrong? [SLE] System freeze during yast (version 6.2)

I've had a persistent problem recently with Yast 1 freezing the machine during Choose/Install Packages / Package information. My installation device is a SCSI CD-ROM, and Yast does seem to be making the initial access to the CD. The freeze happens when I do a search. Both the keyboard and mouse are dead, and the only way to recover is a hard reboot. However, if I use a different CDROM drive I don't seem to have the problem. I suspect that there's some kind of hardware difficulty because of the difference between drives. However, I don't know what kind of difficulty would cause that kind of freeze-up. Nor do I know how to check out whether the drive/CD combination is working properly. Any advice? [SLE] strange characters in console in KDE

Dear All, When I am in KDE (but not in other environments, suchas as fvwm), and I am a user (some users, not all of them or root), and I start a console and execute, say, mc, I get funny characters; for instance, instead of vertical lines separating the left and right I get down-pointing arrows and instead of horizontal lines above and below I get double headed arrows. I've been looking at the configuration files, but I haven't been able to find what is wrong.
