Can anyone help with setting up @Home with Suse 6.0. [SLE] Huge Netscape cache

I'm running Netscape 4.7 under SuSE 6.2. I discovered that the ~/.netscape/cache directory contained over 50MB of cache files, even though the disk cache size under Edit / Preferences/ Advanced / Cache was set at 5000 KB. Moreover, pressing the Clear Disk Cache button didn't clear out the contents of that directory. I manually deleted all the files within the directory (though not the directory itself) with no ill effects so far -- except that Netscape seems to load faster. Is there a way to prevent that cache from getting so big, or to clear it from within Netscape? I am trying to compile xfstt on SuSE 6.2 and get the following. # make xfstt && make install c++ -g -Wall -pedantic -DMAGNIFY=0 -c RAFile.cpp make: c++: Command not found make: *** [RAFile.o] Error 127 What do I make of this? Help!!! I have tried everything I can find in How-to, Manuals, Yast etc. --- No Eth1 start-up.---- Lilo boot prompt, lilo: linux ether= 10,0x300,eth1 , doesn't work either rc.config looks OK. Can someone walk me though the basics...??? [SLE] checking COM ports

I have a UPS (a APC Backup-Pro) hooked up to my Linux box via what I think is /dev/ttyS1 (COM2). The APC software is not getting any infomation from the UPS. How can I check to see if there is any information coming over /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1? [SLE] kernel : VM : killing process - why ?

Hi, I am using SuSE 6.3 kernel 2.2.13 and have the following problems : I have seen in /var/log/messages like : Dec 24 12:54:33 tigh kernel: VM: killing process squid why would this happen ??? Also I noticed that the last date of a message in /var/log/messages is "Dec 24 12:58:52" even though I know I should see other messages there and my system date is correct ! [SLE] Running GUI Tools from Telnet

Hi I send an email about Graphical telnet before. I want to run GUI programs over telnet in my INTRANET. I have one Suse computer and others are windows. I want to run Suse 's graphical tools from my windows operating systems. For example startx, sax etc. With text based telnet we can't run GUI tools. How can we do this ? aic7xxx not detected

My Adaptec Scsi card is not detected anymore. I get this message during boot: "Atapi device hdd" "error - bot ready - sense key = 0x02" "(reserved error code " {thanks guys, this really helps} "-- asc=0x30, asco=ax01)" "The failed "read cd/dvd capacity" packet was "25 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 " I should explain that I have an IDE DVD on hdc, and an IDE CD writer on hdd; scsi emulation is enabled,; and the two drives have been working fine for quite some time. So I booted on the SuSE DVD, aborted the installation, chose "load modules", selected the AIC7XXX scsi module, and got an error message, complaining that the module could not be loaded, followed by the very same message I quoted earlier, which appears on every boot. After which the module is loaded anyway (I checked with: "check loaded modules" or whatever the command is. And the scanner works. But if I reboot, all is lost (I mean, the Scsi card...). Scsi emulation works fine, I can burn CD's. But why isn't the Scsi card detected anymore, and what can I do to load it? I've posted this problem before but didn't get any answers. I run SuSE 6.3, kernel 2.2.13. Whenever i start ppp i get the above message in xconsole. I did not get the message when I used 6.0 and 6.1. I use a minimalistic kernel (370 kb) whith almost everything modularized. Ppp works fine, so this is probably not a problem, just an annoyance. I do not have any char-major-108 entry in /etc/conf.modules. Is there any Guru assistance out there?
