Lenovo laptop compatibility

I looking for a new laptop. I've had good luck with Lenovo ThinkPads. Costco has two IdeaPads, one with and AMD cpu and one with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Plus. Will OpenSUSE Leap 1.6 run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon? Anyone have experience with a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15.6" Touchscreen Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 7530U - 1080p? TIA, Jeffrey

I have "Remote" in my Network. A mac address is given but I cannot trace / track the device (Tumbleweed)

I have an annoying issue in my network. My router shows (besides the devices I know) a "Remote" with access to internet and within the private IP range of the router I use. A mac address is given, could be some gimmick phoning home, malware or some other problem. But....how can I trace the culprit. Currently I blocked internet access of it. None of the devices I use seem to notice, so it would be good to understand how to understand who "Remote" is. I have the doubt it might be the outdated Loewe TV I have at home, running a stone age - Android (about 15-20 years old I guess). As it is branched via a d-Lan device like all the others, maybe that is it, however, how could I get the device more talkative or identify it better within my network? Any ways to track / trace with the IP and the MAC the actual device? What software would I use and how would I proceed. Thank you.

Found left-over process plymouth on boot

Hi *, because of the recent problems with plymouth I checked my journal for plymouth messages more thoroughly and found: Nov 30 14:29:51 client systemd[1]: plymouth-switch-root.service: Deactivated successfully. Nov 30 14:29:52 client systemd[1]: plymouth-start.service: This usually indicates unclean termination of a previous run, or service implementation deficiencies. Is that an expected behavior? It seems, that the plymouth process from the early boot phase remained running - correct? TIA. Bye. Michael.

Mail Server - Huge increase in attempts to compromise dovecot auth as user[1-7]? Or am I just lucky?

All, During the past 3 days, I've received over 1,278 attempts my bots, script-kiddies or other miscreants to compromise dovecot with ruser="user1@..." or ruser="user2@...", and so on for user1 to user7. These are distributed brute-force attempts coming for all different IPs. (not all differed, there are are last 121 that tried 3 times are fail2ban jailed). That's what creeps me out. I don't have any users like that, so they aren't getting in, but it got me thinking -- is there some bug I don't know about in dovecot or auth or something else that recognizes the names user1 to user7 even though there is no Unix account? Tumbleweed: video plays on "gpac" but not on vlc - trying to understand why

I have here a video from youtube via yt-dlp that plays normally on gpac (normally but somewhat limit apparently for either graphics card or processor) but music runs well, and I do not know if gpac generally has good video quality or not, and that does play only music on vlc but with a black screen. Normally if a video is so big it cannot play it should be interlaced in vlc, isn't this the case? How can I understand what is the reason for it to play on one player and not on the other (but only music). Is there a log that could complain about something in vlc? Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20241121 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0 Qt Version: 6.8.0 Kernel Version: 6.11.8-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics Memory: 125.2 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Pro W5500 Product Name: X570 Phantom Gaming 4 VLC: RPM version 4.19.1.1 gpac: RPM version 4.19.1.1 video is webm size 279,7 mb dimension: 3840x2160 bitrate 13,5 Mbit/s freq: 23,98 fps poportions: 1,78:1 my screen is Lenovo T32H-20 resolution 2560x1440 which is, I belief, not hardware wise limited but Mesa Radeon graphics driver related (the Radeon Pro W5500 has 3840x2160 as maximum resolution although not for games. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-pro-w5500.c3479 are the details of the card. Shouldn't vlc downsize the video on a smaller resolution? were can I set this as automatic default. Thank you.
