Hello!,
Reading the documentation, I see that I could configure opensuse
machines as a FreeIPA client using the stock sssd, although the
ipa-client-install command is not available.
I see that yast could be used (yast2-auth-client), but I would like to
know if there's a non-interactive CLI tool I could use to automate the
configuration.
Regards,
CI.-
Hello,
I have a new ssd, I encrypted a partition and installed reiserfs (did
that on my 15.1 system).
Plugging it to my pad with 15.3 I saw that it canot handel it, and
searching I found that Opensuse decided to make my backups worthless.
So I plugged it again to the 15.1. used fdisk to delete the partition.
made a new partition in fdisk.
Wet to yast, clicked to istall an encrypted ext4 system. As after the
last click the window disappeared without further notice I assumend it
was done and unplugged the ssd. Received a nice message, that a process
was iterrupted (and I thanked a lot to the highly itelligent programmer
who closes a window without any hint about a still running process...).
Ok, wanted to repeat. But Yast says it cannot istall ext4 because some
cr_xxx is already here.
So again fdisk, delete partition, make a new one, back to Yast, same error.
So I wet the manual way (the ssd partition is sdg1):
dd_rescue -m 2M /dev/urandom /dev/sdg1
cryptsetup -v --key-size 256 luksFormat /dev/sdg1 my_cryptkey-file
cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sdg1 cr_sdg1
mkfs.ext4 /dev/mapper/cr_sdg1 /dev/mapper/cr_sdg1
here I get:
mkfs.ext4: invalid blocks '/dev/mapper/cr_sdg1' on device
'/dev/mapper/cr_sdg1'
Did I do an error?
How can I get my ssd back into a virgin state, to begin from scratch?
I need urgent help, because I go to travel tomorrow and must take those
ssd with me, working on 15.3...
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,
using Leap 15.2, I get this result using zypper, which I have never seen:

Extended search? And a SUSE URL, not openSUSE? What is this?

Recently installed ClawsMail since Thunderbird now refuses to accept any password from me. Problem:

Can anyone tell me how to fix that, please? --doug
Hi, all --
This is probably a VM-ish question rather than a SuSE-ish question, but
since I'm running OpenSuSE I figured I could ask here to get started :-)
I want to create a VM on host X and view it from my host Y desktop. All
of the examples I've seen show someone working locally. Can either of
these tools support running the VM "there" but viewing and interacting
with it "here"?
If not, is there another simple and free hypervisor that will fill the
bill? I'm not particularly in love with either, not least since I have no
experience; they just seem to be at the top of everyone's "virtualization
for dummies" lists.
I just want to run a few simple VMs, but I have neither the disk space nor
the extra RAM on my little desktop to do so -- and I don't particularly
want to have to get up and go to the coat^Wserver closet any time I have
to access them.
TIA & HAND

I guess the lightning got me this time. YAST message:
An error occurred during repository initialization. Is this fixable or must I reinstall the whole system? Agh!

Hello,
When, I use my smartphone (Xiaomi Redmi Notes 9S) vertically, the
resulting video file have an internal tag "rotation" that validates this
orientation.
but
often, beginning and ending of the video are unusable (for example
wrong orientation at the beginning corrected after some seconds), so I
have to cut the bad part. I use avidemux in copy mode, extremely fast.
but (2)
avidemux remove the rotation tag and the resulting video is now horizontal
I know how to rotate a video with handbrake or ffmpeg, but with
recoding, long and quality loss prone.
How can I just keep the rotation tag or add it to the final video?
THANKS

Firefox refuses to open some links, some times.
I try to open this link I got on an email - it happens with several sites,
this is just an example.
https://youtu.be/qkZDn9O954U
Nothing opens. I close the tab, open another tab, try again. I get a
popup - see attached photo. If I clicl on "open with firefox", then I get
the youtube page, but the video doesn't load - after all, it is a local
file "file:///tmp/mozilla_cer0/watch" of html type.
After opening a new tab several times and pasting the link, finally it
opens.
I am using UBlock, but also happens with Add Block Plus, or if I click
disable on the current page.
Most times it simply works, but a few times I hit a link that FF simply
refuses to open, no message.
Using Leap 15.2 and stock FF.
