Help! chroot seems to have changed, I can't recover my system

Hi, I had to change over to a new hard drive,500G to 1T, I changed my partitioning scheme slightly to include a separate home and opt partition and merged two data partitions into one. I also changed to a gpt partition table to remove the need for an extended partition I got this Leap:15.3 system up and running fine except for a root ext4 partition error that popped up when I had a power outage. This made me remember how tolerant the xfs file system was to crashes so i decided to copy the root partition contents to a backup and create an xfs root partition. Wrong move, I'd forgotten that grub2 and xfs don't like each other and the system was unbootable. Ok backup root again and create an ext3 boot partition before the root partition and perform the mount --bind on sys proc and dev then chroot into root partition then use yast2 bootloader on it. Fine except "chroot /mnt" no longer appears to work, it says: "chroot: failed to run command ‘/bin/bash’: Permission denied" I've googled this but I can't understand any of the solutions and tutorials which I don't really have time for, I need to get back to work. A Professor needing information about repositories.

Have a good day, dear community. I am an Uruguayan teacher and technician who has been using several distros for years ( and counting :D ) and wants to learn some particular things about Linux repositories. Just for the pleasure of saying it, my system of daily use has been (and is, and will be) openSUSE for 14 years :D :D :D I have been talking with one of the repo maintainers and with some users of the Mageia community with the intention of being able to finish writing a manual of disclosure level on repositories that tries to be an important reference for students, and that in turn will remain for the community. What I am interested to know fits better in the following questions, so, I have taken the liberty of write this questions, hoping that some mates could answer little by little the ones that they want. Here I go, and thanks beforehand! I) Are http repos more insecure than the https ones? II) Where is there a list of "https" repos of every http repo in the case of openSUSE? III) In which cases is NOT advisable to add all (and only) https repos for openSUSE? IV) Can a replica or clone of an official repository server represent a threat? V) What modifications does opensuse introduce in its Linux kernel to adapt it to the system? VI) In which cases is it advisable to add the kernel.org repo to use the intact Linux kernel? I apologize if this is not the list for this type of topic. In that case, I can delete the thread and post it in another list. Big hug!

Is there anyone here doing KDE development? I have installed everything in the C++ development pattern and the KDE Frameworks pattern but KDevelop cannot find the header imports for the simplest "Hello World" program. I'm interested in taking a serious look at developing for Plasma. Using Tumbleweed. Where do I go to get started? Thanks for some direction. Feel free to use private email to take it off the list.

I get (hand copied): error: bad shim signature. error: you need to load the kernel first. Press any key to continue. Details: It is a new external hard disk, via USB3 (tried also USB2) on a laptop that has internally Leap 15.2 and Windows, both booting normally. On this external hard disk I installed 15.3 (UEFI mode). The UEFI boot menu does not display this disk at all. The efibootmgr man page doesn't say how to add a new entry: CREATING A NEW BOOT OPTION An OS installer would call efibootmgr -c. This assumes that /boot/efi is your EFI System Partition, and is mounted at /dev/sda1. This creates a new boot option, called "Linux", and puts it at the top of the boot order list. Options may be passed to modify the default behavior. The default OS Loader is elilo.efi. 3. What are those options to modify the behaviour??? It is an example section with no examples!!! So, instead I boot 15.2 (with current updates as of yesterday), start yast boot manager, and tell it to probe the disk for other systems. It does find 15.3, and the error I posted above is precissely what happens when using that probed entry. No matter if I select failsafe. Amarok playlists

I recently added a 2nd playlist to Amarok for Christmas music. However, I've noticed that it does not limit to items in the selected play list. Is there anyway around this? It seems to me that when one and only one playlist is selected, it shouldn't play from another. KDE on 15.3. tnx jk

postfix: default or nil

Hello, In an other thread I asked to see what postfix options are made empty/nil by adding in the file the option name followed by only " = " In fact there are more than I expected. Is it better to let the file as is, or to comment out these lines to get back postfix default? for example I notice "relayhost = " several options are listed in main.cf, I'm unsure to what is done if the option is not listed in the file practically, I didn't find a way (without breaking all the install) to list *default* options (that is what is done if the option is written nowhere :-() comm -23 <(postconf -n) <(postconf -d) (settings that *differ* from built-in defaults) gives relayhost = but, if I remove (rename) main.cf and stop postfix, # postconf -n | grep relayh postconf: fatal: open /etc/postfix/main.cf: No such file or directory that's ok, but: postconf man page: -d Print main.cf default parameter settings instead of actual settings # postconf -d | grep relayh address_verify_relayhost = $relayhost(...) relayhost = (...) so "relayhost =" should be the default, is the comm line wrong?? thanks jdd (confused) -- http://dodin.org http://valeriedodin.com

Hello :-) I'm installing an usenet server. The doc I found for peering asks me to install "cleanfeed" https://news.aioe.org/documentation/how-to-setup-a-feed-with-aioeorg/ I don't find it on openSUSE, but it is on fedora https://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=cleanfeed is there an openSUSE clone/replacement? is it safe to use fedora one? thanks jdd -- http://dodin.org http://valeriedodin.com
