[opensuse] save installed packages for reinstall

I am considering wiping my main system drive and reinstalling Tw clean but would like to have the same packages on the new system. [opensuse] ZoneMinder

Does anybody use ZoneMinder? I'm thinking of buying some cameras for security and using ZM to control and monitor them. I'm hoping that is a sane idea. I'm planning to store motion-activated video clips locally at the camera and on disks somewhere in my and my friends' networks. I see there is an experimental release for Tumbleweed but only community releases for Leap. There are a couple of home repositories, and one (monex) seems to have conflicting ideas about what is stable vs unstable depending on what version of openSUSE you are running. Do either monex or ecos read this list? [opensuse] Annoying "feature"

OpenSUSE has a very annoying "feature" where sometimes when I move the mouse, I see a bunch of little windows scattered around the screen. [opensuse] Which kernel use?

Hi, A few days ago I found article about 'Which kernel use in Linux distribution' but I can't find that again, so I just started to thinking, which kernel can I use to not break the system. On kernel.org there's a LTS kernel which version is 4.19.55 or 4.14.129 but in openSUSE Leap 15.1 is 4.12.14 and as I assume the newest modules(?), drivers(?) are included as a backport right? [opensuse] cannot change root while attempting to reinstall grub

I am trying to copy my root partition into another partition in order to boot from that partition. My system has 2 hard drives - an sdd which is /dev/sda, and an hdd, which is /dev/sdb. What I want to do is copy the contents of /dev/sda1 to /dev/sdb8, then setup grub to see the operating system at /dev/sdb8, and be able to boot from there. I have already copied /dev/sda1 to /dev/sdb1 using rsync, so now it is just a matter of setting up grub. I can reinstall grub regardless, but if I change the root first, then it will make the new partition the first partition in the grub list. I also tried to do this using a rescue system, but I get the same error. My rescue system stick is a leap 42.3 stick, so I expect that library was not part of 42.3 and that is the problem there. But trying to change root inside a shell on a fully booted system, where the root partition files are simply copied from one partition to another should not cause this problem. I am running leap 15.0 in this partition that I copied over to /dev/sdb8. I was running tumbleweed on this partition before, but I used a zypper dup to change it to leap 15.0. Hello, If you have installed clamav 0.101.2 from opensuse's repository, is it working properly? I can't think so. To check this, try; $ ldd /usr/bin/clam* | grep libclamms You will get; libclammspack.so.0 => not found libclammspack.so.0 => not found libclammspack.so.0 => not found libclammspack.so.0 => not found In my case; libclammspack.so.0 => /usr/lib64/libclammspack.so.0 (0x00007fa6ac38f000) libclammspack.so.0 => /usr/lib64/libclammspack.so.0 (0x00007ff5cdbdf000) libclammspack.so.0 => /usr/lib64/libclammspack.so.0 (0x00007f1e55793000) libclammspack.so.0 => /usr/lib64/libclammspack.so.0 (0x00007eff03dad000) Because, I made clamav-0.101.2-1.1.src.rpm by my self with the release of clamav-0.101.2.tar.gz, then compile & installed. [opensuse] Is my new WD external disk defect?

Hi, I just bought a new external disk, but it doesn't show up when plugging it. It also doesn't show up in Yast partitioner. [opensuse] system freeze during boot of new kernel v. 4.4.180-102.1.x86_64

The day before yesterday I did a system update, including downloading and installing a new kernel (v. 4.4.180-102.1.x86_64). I didn't reboot however; rather I continued to run the previous kernel (4.4.179-99-default). This may be worth mentioning only because towards the end of the day yesterday my system froze up. That is, I could move the mouse pointer around, but clicking on any window did nothing. This meant that I couldn't switch to any other window, so no way to try to diagnose anything. From gkrellm, however, I did see that both RAM and swap usage were normal, not maxed out, so no runaway processses. But the only way to get out of that frozen system was to power down via the power switch. Turning the laptop back on, I booted into the new kernel. However, it wouldn't boot. It hung even before I was able to log in, when the text messages about the boot processes were still rolling up the screen. Here's what I saw: ... [ OK ] Reached target System Iniitialization. And that's where it hung... for at least fifteen minutes (that's about how long it took me to note by hand all of what I saw onscreen). I had to hard-reboot (again), where I selected the previous (bootable) kernel (4.4.179-99-default). There was no problem booting it and haven't had any problems running it for more than a day-and-a-half.
