When I post to the list it means I expect a reply to the list, not a private
reply. if you want to take things off-list then say so explicitly.
Since I started this on the list I'm returning to the list.

Tough, cost that's the way a LOT of editors work
I think that your real problem is that you are conscious of what you are doing
when you type. The more experienced of us aren't; it's transparent, just think
about it and the finger do it of their own accord. And yes, it differs with
contexts, but its like that scene in The Matrix where the skill to fly the
'copter gets downloaded. Either that I make use of macros when I use VI or
LibreOffice :-)

I'm running version 60.6.1 (64-bit) of Thunderbird. Obviously I'm a recessive
Whitebeard. It seems a lot of us on the list are, for some reason. I think it
has to do with age :-)
Which version are you running?
Accessing the configuration hasn't changed in recent, say the last ten or so,
releases. Maybe more. My memory fades with age :-)
The menu is the 'three bars' on the right. Hover over it with the mouse and it
will say so. Click on it and you'll see 'preferences'. Click on that and
you'll get a display that offers many, many configuration options. 'Advanced'
is the one on the far right.
You really should experiment and explore the applications.
I had to learn that way since the cat ate my copy of the instruction manual ;-)
