Below is the reply, composed in Thunderbird, that has been queued up to send thru a Gmail app server (smtp.gmail.com) for two days now. I've re-routed it thru my Old School mail route: emacs, Mutt, Postfix, a local Web/Email hosting company (noise.org). How much of the original charset, Content-* headers, and Email headers will survive I won't known until the Bcc reaches me. When it left emacs, there was a UTF-8 hard space after "... mailing lists." This is primarily a question my wife wants answered. Also, Gmail's SMTP server is up and down yesterday so getting tests of the various fixes is problematic. Checking the Drafts folder reveals that unchecking the Compose in HTML box in the Preferences/Options does do what I want. [opensuse] Force Thunderbird to use ASCII only in plain text

Anyone know of a way to force Thunderbird to use ASCII only for outgoing e-mails? I'm trying to get rid of the hard-space (0xA0) for the first of two spaces after a period. Some e-mail and maybe mail servers don't handle it well. It is replaced by two question marks on the other end. I've used the config editor to set mailnews.send_default_charset to ASCII (ends up 8bit in e-mail header) and 7bit. Neither works. [opensuse] dnsmasq as dhcp server ?

I'm "helping" my son setting up a Raspi3B+ as a wifi access point. It looks like it's working, but devices (mobile, tab, laptop) that try to use it never send a DHCPACK. I see the DHCPDISCOVER and a DHCPOFFER. I guess I'm missing something in the dnsmasq config ? The access point is only meant to give acess to the Raspi, not the internet. (in the test setup, internet access is available). The idea is to use a tablet as interface to a website running on the Raspi. [opensuse] Leap 15.1 Build 468.8 Net Install Fails

When trying to get the Leap 15.1 Build 468.8 net installer to load, I get the error message: "Installation system does not match your boot medium. Sorry, this will not work." I then manually specified another mirror which it successfully starts loading the image from, just to fail with the same error message. I noticed on all the mirrors I have checked (which are numerous), the /distribution/leap/15.1/repo/oss/468.8-boot/ directory is absent. I do find it at: https://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.1/repo/oss/ but the installer always wants to contact a mirror and doesn't actually load the files from https://download.opensuse.org. [opensuse] KVM & Raspbian

I've never used virtual machines before but I want to bring up an instance of Raspbian. So I installed KVM with YaST and I downloaded https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/rpd_x86_latest and ran its checksum, so I know I got a good copy. I started virt-manager and selected File/New VM and got a dialog box/wizard which I clicked through. [opensuse] Leap 15.1 - kernel staying at 4.12 level (no difference to Leap 15.0)?

Hi list, read the announcement on the factory mailing-list <https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2019-05/msg00142.html> that leap 15.1 was completed. Did some zypper dup upgrades and the kernel basically stayed the same at 4.12.something Is this to stay? [opensuse] After recent upgrade Win7 does not start in virtualbox

Hi all, I cannot start Win7 in virtualbox after a recent upgrade. I thought it was because I reinstalled on e of my laptops. But today there was a usual upgrade on another laptop, and the same occurred. Win7 seemingly starts, but soon ends with a blue screen. It says that if it is the first time i see that message, then restart the computer. Otherwise I should consult with my administrator. I use TW and KDE. Any hints? Thanks Albert

[opensuse] wpa_supplicant-2.6-16.1.x86_64 update Leap 42.3, stopping network during update

All, I have seen this on two machines so far and I am curious if anyone else has experienced problems with the wpa_supplicant update. What I have seen happen is the update gets to: ( 64/233) Installing: wpa_supplicant-2.6-16.1.x86_64 -----------------------------------------------------------[-]packet_write_wait: Connection to 192.168.6.102 port 22: Broken pipe and the network goes down. It's almost like the wpa_supplicant update is attempting a hot-driver replacement in the middle of the install routine. Anybody seen anything similar? -- David C.
