[opensuse] 15.1 Net-Installer -- Killer Look, without "Recommends" is stall a challenge

All, Just working through the 15.1 install. Installer graphic are great (Ok, I don't comment on installer graphics usually, but give credit where credit is due), but a minimal X install will take a whopping 7G+ of storage?? Wow. Unchecking the "Install Recommended" in the menu dramatically cuts it down to a manageable size, but picking through the details to pick out what is wanted is a bit tedious. But... kudos to the Yast folks, the detail view for package selection is orders of magnitude faster than in past releases. No sitting an waiting for yast to finish parsing the packages under a pattern anymore. Installer was quite confused with the 16G drive size in the VM. Noting even enough for snapshots with Btrfs. (ext4 to the rescue -- and without "Recommends", snapper isn't installed on top of the ext4 selection :) Will keep you posted as it goes, but no issues thus far (other than no fluxbox in OSS :( icewm will have to do, though Windowmaker is available ) -- David C. [opensuse] 15.1 Wrong Digest

Hi Folks, I'm trying an upgrade from 15 to 15.1 and I get a wrong digest error: "The expected checksum of file /var/admin/mount/AP_0xA3mfPd/x86_64/libxcb-icccm4-0.4.1-lp151.2.2.x86_64 is "blabla" but the current checksum is "blablablala"" Use it anyway? All, This seems like a dumb question, but I can't get to the manual at https://www.php.net in Firefox on 42.3 -- it says: Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to www.php.net. The OCSP response contains out-of-date information. Error code: SEC_ERROR_OCSP_OLD_RESPONSE The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Where can I find a qemu-kvm-ev build for openSUSE? The background is, that I am affected by the RedHat bug "Bug 1690641 - High Host CPU load for Windows 10 Guests (Update 1803) when idle [qemu-kvm]" and they closed the bug as WONTFIX with the comment "For me this is fixed in the EV variant of the software.". See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1690641 https://centosfaq.org/centos-virt/differences-between-qemu-kvm-and-qemu-kvm… I already tried several work-arounds e.g. with timers configuration, but Windows 10 still needs much CPU time and booting is unreliable. Just tried some 15.1 system and zypper ref now shows updates. libsensors4 libspeechd2 postfix python3-speechd sensors speech-dispatcher speech-dispatcher-module-espeak libxslt1 libxslt-tools Is 15.1 now GA? Or is this early important updates? Wasnt GA of 15.1 like tomorrow or still two days off? Below is the reply, composed in Thunderbird, that has been queued up to send thru a Gmail app server (smtp.gmail.com) for two days now. I've re-routed it thru my Old School mail route: emacs, Mutt, Postfix, a local Web/Email hosting company (noise.org) How much of the original charset, Content-* headers, and Email headers will survive I won't known until the Bcc reaches me. When it left emacs, there was a UTF-8 hard space after "... mailing lists." The wonderful thing about standards is there are so many to choose. This is primarily a question my wife wants answered. Also, Gmail's SMTP server is up and down yesterday so getting tests of the various fixes is problematic. Checking the Drafts folder reveals that unchecking the Compose in HTML box in the Preferences/Options does do what I want. Anyone know of a way to force Thunderbird to use ASCII only for outgoing e-mails? I'm trying to get rid of the hard-space (0xA0) for the first of two spaces after a period. Some e-mail and maybe mail servers don't handle it well. It is replaced by two question marks on the other end. I've used the config editor to set mailnews.send_default_charset to ASCII (ends up 8bit in e-mail header) and 7bit. Neither works. [opensuse] dnsmasq as dhcp server ?

I'm "helping" my son setting up a Raspi3B+ as a wifi access point. It looks like it's working, but devices (mobile, tab, laptop) that try to use it never send a DHCPACK. I see the DHCPDISCOVER and a DHCPOFFER. I guess I'm missing something in the dnsmasq config ? The access point is only meant to give acess to the Raspi, not the internet. (in the test setup, internet access is available). The idea is to use a tablet as interface to a website running on the Raspi. [opensuse] Leap 15.1 Build 468.8 Net Install Fails

When trying to get the Leap 15.1 Build 468.8 net installer to load, I get the error message: "Installation system does not match your boot medium. Sorry, this will not work." I then manually specified another mirror which it successfully starts loading the image from, just to fail with the same error message. I noticed on all the mirrors I have checked (which are numerous), the /distribution/leap/15.1/repo/oss/468.8-boot/ directory is absent. I do find it at: https://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.1/repo/oss/ but the installer always wants to contact a mirror and doesn't actually load the files from https://download.opensuse.org.
