[opensuse] systemd automount

Is there any way of finding out what prevents a (supposedly idle) automount from expiring? [opensuse] Leap 15 as Vmware Host

Has anyone been able to get Leap 15 run Vmware as a host, specifically Vmware 12 branch? [opensuse] Separate xscreens troubles

I posted this over on the SuSE-KDE forum yesterday but got no response yet so thought I would throw it out here to see if anyone has this working in Leap. I'm running Leap 42.3 KDE/Plasma and am having difficulties getting this configuration to work as it did/does in SuSE-13.2. I am using Nvidia's proprietary driver and its nvidia-settings pgm to configure it. It appears to try to work but not good enough. For instance, to just describe a couple of things: I set my display via "export DISPLAY=:0.1" then start an application like konsole. It does start on the correct DISPLAY but the minimize/maximize and exit buttons don't show up. If I right click somewhere in DISPLAY :0.1, I get no response like I do in 13.2. Some application buttons in some applications don't show up at all or ignored when clicked on. When I send Yast2 to a separate xscreen it doesn't even show up yet it is running. The nvidia-settings pgm creates an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. It it possible that these seperate xscreen settings should be somewhere in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d instead? Richard Brown's naming conventions strikes! ;-) Updates pushed onto my upgrade to Leap-15 asked to downgrade gtk-bindings-yadda-yadda-42.2 to yadda-yadda-15.0 Just checking the downgrade option worked, of course. [opensuse] graphic display blinks

Hello, Here I just ask for general debug ideas, as the relevant computer is not in my hands, but I may have to work on it or it's brothers some day. it's an old computer, 7 years old, but sufficient and 64 bits, but only 2Gb ram. Intel graphics. Desktop. I first installed tumbleweed 32 bits, then (today) tested live Leap 15, with same result: when started as init 3 (number 3 added at the end on grub linux line), works. When started as default, the screen blinks with around 1/2s frequency, obviously its's X that stops and restart as the keyboard is nearly not responsive (unusable). I tried nomodeset, vga on linux grub line, same result start X from terminal and blinking, the blinking continues even after the return under terminal. Hi, Whenever I start my computer, I get this annoying three dots as a startup screen in plymouth. I am running Tumbleweed, and I am seeing that this has been an issue with nVidia drivers for a loooooooong time. hi there thought opensuse wouldnt do these major upgrades of projects or packages but rather patches and smallish version increases today on leap 42.3 some libreoffice 5.4.x suddenly upgraded itself to 6.0.3 methinks via zypper up what is the general plan for upgrades? there was arguing in the past e.g. firefox and then firefox esr comes to my mind and the reluctance of advancing the latest firefox releases and instead the maintainer switching over to firefox esr in recent months. any explanation on these decisions and when an upgrade is fit for deployment or when smallish version number increases are rather used instead? tia. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner(a)opensuse.org

[opensuse] separate browser logins vs separate instance X display

Hi again, all -- I have multiple cloud accounts (A, B, ...) and access them all at the same time. One way to do that is to click the little account tab and change the login (A, B, ...) in the browser. Another way is to have separate users (A@wench, B@wench, ...) on my laptop and fire off the browser as that user and display it on my (davidtg@wench) screen after running xhost. Any thoughts on which approach is cleaner, faster, better in general? [opensuse] plymouthd stuck taking 5% CPU after systemd timers fired at 45 min past hour ??

All, I've never seen this before on 42.2 or 42.3, but when the systemd timers fired for the cleanup, plymouthd got stuck consuming 5% of the CPU and has been for the past 15 minutes.
