[opensuse] Player: QUADIA OVP4

My bank has changed its program and in order to learn about the details of the changes it offers several videos which would explain everything. Logging in I found out that my players do not pick up the videos. No further information. I just got an email in which they explain that people could already find out what to expect. If I look into the URL I get tha videos I also get after logging in into my account but it seems to be for the general public. Trying to show the video just gives Player: QUADIA OVP4 and again nothing shows. What kind of video is this and could I try to use one of the openSUSE players available? [opensuse] openvpn trouble

We have a couple of laptops in the office that use openvpn whenever they're on the road. This has worked fine for a few years. Recently, we upgraded the firewall including the openvpn server to 13.1, which went fine, but now I'm having problems getting openvpn to work. It seems to be working, but the client config is screwed up. The tunnel device receives a config like: tun0: link/none inet 255.255.255.0 peer 192.168.13.10/32 scope global tun0 The VPN is 192.168.13.0/24, but the client address being 255.255.255.0 is completely gaga. [opensuse] All my volumes disappered

Hi, Could use some help in pebbling one of my machines back to live. This is openSUSE 13.1 on x86_64. The machine also functions as my print server and this is where the spiral started. This morning I wanted to print something, from another machine, and noticed that the printer had disappeared. After trying to reconfigure it and restarting cups on the print server didn't work I hoped for the magical "lets reboot the box" trick. After all, what could possibly go wrong. Well, pretty much everything went wrong from there. Issuing "shutdown -r now" put he box in limbo and I ended up having to push the power button. Initially after turning it back on it wouldn't boot at all getting stuck when trying to deal with the external usb drive attached. The external device is not part of any VG setup. Turned off the external device and commented out the entries that point to the volume groups in /etc/fstab. Keeping the fstab entries brought me to emergency boot mode in systemd, but the keyboard wouldn't work. Thus, this was entirely useless (filed a bug). I can get the system to boot but everything with the LVM setup is messed up. Running lvdisplay when running on the installed system produces sensible output, i.e. what I would expect, except for: # lvdisplay No device found for PV mM4Hhg-o52o-pj0p-fd7v-ArzT-gilf-ZrVdTh. The rest of the output looks OK to me. I have no idea how I would map the cryptic name to an actual device. The systemlog contains timeout messages for 2 of the 3 drives: systemd-udevd[310]: worker [325] /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2/ata4/host3/target3:0:1/3:0:1:0/block/sdd/sdd1 timeout; kill it systemd-udevd[310]: worker [327] /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2/ata4/host3/target3:0:0/3:0:0:0/block/sdc/sdc1 timeout; kill it In the rescue system I can set up a chroot environment and then mount the volumes and everything is fine. As usual, I would rather not go the reinstall route, but am out of ideas at this point. I could use some help. I ran zypper up right before I tried to shutdown the machine, thus all the latest updates are installed. [opensuse] KDE and console use different encoding

Hi, I just coincidentally stumbled over this... It seems that my KDE uses ISO-8859-1 encoding while the console uses UTF-8 encoding. That makes for a bit of a mess when you edit scripts or other texts which are to be used by the system with kwrite. Re: qemu - can shared shared folders be used ? If so, can they be created as easily as VirtualBox ? Also, for non-games usage, which one would be faster running Win 7 - VB, VMware or QEMU ? [opensuse] versions missing in 13.1 needed to build gnome-controlcenter...

Tried to build gnome-controlcenter, but it dies claiming it needs : pkgconfig(colord) >= 0.1.34 is needed by gnome-control-center-3.10.1-1.1.x86_64 pkgconfig(colord-gtk) >= 0.1.24 is needed by gnome-control-center-3.10.1-1.1.x86_64 But the repo for 13.1 only has colord-1.1.2-2.1 which doesn't cut it? Also can't find a colord-gtk at all? So is there a separate repo for pkgconfig? Also don't see any 'devel packages for colord... Why do I have rpm colord 1.1.2 but pkgconfig needs 0.1.34??? [opensuse] Disable encrypted home

Hello to everyone. One day I decide to encrypt my home partition at work. I read on opensuse Wiki, that opensuse uses LUKS. But then I find information that I can use a YaST to encrypt. I opened YaST -> Users managment -> choose my user and checked 'Use encrypted home directory', I wrote password and ok. Now in terminal everytime when I want to use sudo command i get 'pam_mount password' instead of 'root password'. Now I do not want to use this option. I Log in into root account, open YaST, choose 'Users Managment' and choose my users. When I unchecked this option and choose 'write changes now', there is a problem, that 'image cannot be open' (there is some user.img at /home directory). So my question is how can I disable this option ? [opensuse] set environment variable

Hello all, I need to set some environment variables and I have stated where I have placed them. Please check whether I am correct or is there any duplication/redundancy: 1. Locale LC_ALL=en_IN.utf-8 This has been set in ~/.profile and ~/.bashrc. A separate executable file is also created under ~/.kde4/env/ 2. IME I use fcitx. I find this better integrated with KDE (than IBus) for typing my mother tongue Tamil (ta_IN). I have set variables in ~/.profile, ~/.xim and ~/.bashrc 3. Libreoffice Libreoffice-kde(4) is problematic - like during dragging cells. So, I've set "export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome" in ~/.profile and ~/.bashrc 4. Gnupg Agent I need this for digitally signing my mails (with pkcs11 DSCs). Starting/stopping commands are included in ~/.profile and ~/.bashrc. Separate executable files each for starting and stopping respectively are placed in ~/.kde4/env/ and ~/.kde4/shutdown/ Now, as you may see, I have placed some variables at two or three places. Is it needed/correct? Or is there any better way to do this? Thanks in advance. [opensuse] 13.1 install overwrites mbr

Foolish me! I've been running 12.3 quite happily. I bought a new drive and decided to install 13.1 on it. That went OK. But *sigh* the need for more config tweeks! The real problem s that I _thought_ I was installing the boot on the mbr of the new drive. Apparently not. My mistake! I was hoping to use the BIOS device boot selection to choose whch disk ... You know the rest. I'm not hoping that there's some way I can correct this, have the mbr of sda boot from the /boot on /sda and the mbr on sdb boot from the /boot on sdb. I thought grub2 was supposed to scan for these things?
