[opensuse] Get back files from USB flash disk after dd of image

Silly mistake. I wrote (using dd) LIVE CD image to flash formatted as FAT disk before copying data from it. Can I recover the data from the flash disk? I tried testdisk, bud with no success... [opensuse] zypper dup hangs on VM

Hi 12.3 -> 13.1 guest upgrade on 13.1 host. VirtualBox from respective yasts I changed 12.3 to 13.1 here: Yast>Software Repositories>[choose one with '12.3' in it]>Change 12.3 to 13.1>repeat until no 12.3 remains in the url's: 12.3-Non-Oss 12.3-Oss 12.3-Update network:utilities Install hangs at: (421/1988) Installing: kernel-default-3.11.10-7.1 ................ And we have to roll back to the snapshot. A similar VM worked OK: it had more '.'s and [done] at the end. Have tried without the network:utilities. Hangs in same place. [opensuse] Calendar in SeaMonkery 2.24

Hi, I have SeaMonkey 2.24 with Lightning 2.6.4 and when I open calendar window, I see error report, that there was an error at address moz-abdirectory:// and calendar won't be accessible. In calendar list I see all my calendars, but the main area with calendar itself is empty. It is working fine in Thunderbird, so I wonder what is wrong with SeaMonkey... [opensuse] libreoffice impress save graphics path

Hello: I have openSUSE 12.2 with KDE 3.5.10. When I save images from libreoffice impress by right clicking -> save graphics LO always offers ~/.config/libreoffice/4-suse/user/gallery/ directory and png as file type and it does not remember either the path from the previous save or the file type to save as. It is very annoying as I have to save several pictures from presentations. My LO is 4.1.3.2 from oS repo. libreoffice-4.1.3.2-2.1.x86_64 libreoffice-impress-4.1.3.2-2.1.x86_64 This worked with no issue in OpenOffice in oS 11.2. [opensuse] Remote desktop

Hi, Is there some application to take over a remote graphical screen ? I know I can VNC, but then "the other side" does not see anything what I'm doing, and I like them to learn from what I'm doing. I could use Teamviewer, but I don't like the idea to contact a strange server before I can contact the remote desktop. I'm running Opensusewith KDE4. One of the targets is running Ubuntu, others also Opensuse, it that matters. Thanks for any pointers. [opensuse] Has zypper lost its way?

I don't now if this belongs here or in Factory, but...... I have the DESKTOP kernel 3.13.x (from K:/stable/standard/) and have had since I installed 13.1. A short time ago I did the "zypper trick" and got this output: linux-njij:~ # zypper up Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... The following 28 package updates will NOT be installed: (pruned to save space) The following 3 NEW packages are going to be installed: kernel-default-devel-3.13.2-1.1.g97cc2ff kernel-desktop-3.11.10-7.1 kernel-devel-3.13.2-1.1.g97cc2ff 3 new packages to install. Overall download size: 50.9 MiB. After the operation, additional 211.0 MiB will be used. Continue? [y/n/? shows all options] (y): n Now, there are 2 things in the above: 1) I do not have DEFAULT kernel installed, and 2) I do not have the 3.11 kernel installed - nor is it listed in YaST. The K:/s/s repository has a priority level of 95 (and Allow Vendor Change is not selected) and this repo does NOT have the 3.11 kernel listed - so is where zypper trying to install 3.11 from?
