[opensuse] trying to boot from External Intenso USB Hard Disk

Hello List, - in case of interest : have Intenso 2.5 inch 320 GB External USB Hard Disk ............. after doing : mount /dev/sdc4 /mnt mount -o bind /proc /mnt/proc mount -o bind /sys /mnt/sys mount -o bind /dev /mnt/dev chroot /mnt - i next edited /etc/fstab to have root on /dev/sdc4 & then used Yast to install Grub2 as boot loader ............ after several attempts, have not yet succeeded to boot the Intenso external usb disk - maybe it's just not possible? thanks ......... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner(a)opensuse.org

Posts are sent to postfix, and postfix handles the sending via my ISP relay. And all accounts have this entry set as the smtp server to use. Then, I also have entries for each account, so that using a gmail account thunderbird would talk with the gmail entry server for sending. This is what I called "on its own". The current setting on each account is "use default smtp server", as described above for localhost, not the ISP for each account. On this occasion, though, apparently Th ignored this setting, and sent directly, using the other config, sending directly to my ISP. Or so I thought. [opensuse] Temperature measurements of computer components

My computer is working in a relative warm environment. In this room the temperature is an average of 26' C. Since years I keep an eye on the temperatures of the CPU, Motherboard and the rpm of the important coolers. Having had to go several times today into my bios I discovered there that according to the bios the temperatures of the CPU where over 90' C and during the booting process the start-up speed was reduced. On my gkrellm which is running on every desktop I have after the booting process a temp from 60' to 65' C. Assuming that the temperatures may come from the same sensor I wonder which of the two I should trust. Looked into other temperature programs in Yast I found Eeze but found out that I do not even understand their documents. [opensuse] rpmbuild - %doc keeps wiping out additional %docdir files?

All, I need help. I am working on packaging WordNet. Doing so, I have 5 doc files in the base directory of the source packages I want in the documentation directory of the final package: %doc AUTHORS ChangeLog COPYING LICENSE README Fine - works, puts the files in /usr/share/doc/packages/WordNet where I want them. However, I also have the html, pdf, and ps documentation directories I want to put in that SAME directory. In the %install section I create the directory and move the documentation dirs (html,pdf,ps) to /usr/share/doc/packages/WordNet with the following: # Make proper document dir, mv doc files, rm old doc dir mkdir -p %{buildroot}/usr/share/doc/packages/WordNet mv %{buildroot}/usr/doc/* %{buildroot}/usr/share/doc/packages/WordNet rm -rf %{buildroot}/usr/doc/ I then add: %files ... %docdir /usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc rpmbuild completes fine, but NONE of the (html,pdf,or ps) directories are present in the final package. None of these exists: /usr/share/doc/packages/WordNet/html /usr/share/doc/packages/WordNet/pdf /usr/share/doc/packages/WordNet/ps Grr.. From research I found that this was due to the %doc AUTHORS... line wiping out everything else in the /usr/share/doc/packages/WordNet directory -- the reason given: "that is just rpm being dumb, that's just the way it has always been." But there was no explanation how to fix this issue. It seems simple. All I want to do is move the documentation from %{buildroot}/usr/doc/{html,pdf,ps} to %{buildroot}/usr/doc/packages/WordNet/{html,pdf,ps} and include those directories along with the files AUTHORS ChangeLog COPYING LICENSE and README. But how do I do it without the first %doc line wiping them out? I have given up in the interim and just created a %{buildroot}/usr/doc/packages/WordNet-docs directory and move the html, pdf and ps directories there, but I really would like all documentation under /usr/share/doc/packages/WordNet. How do I do that?? To those who may not be aware LibreOffice 4.2 is now available and can be downloaded from- https://www.libreoffice.org/ As this is a direct download from the authors you will, of course, need to install it yourself (with rpm -Uvh *.rpm) in each of the packages you download - READ the instructions in the Read.me(s). One thing to be aware of: if you are using KDE (like I am) then you will need to install using YaST- gnome-vfs2 (either 32- or 64-bit depending on your system) otherwise there will be a dependency error. (BTW, before installing LO from the above it is always best to remove the current installation of LO.) [A hint: after installing 4.2, reboot your system otherwise LO may not run when you click on the icon.] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ While I am on LO, does anyone know where, and the name of the file, LO keeps the darn Dictionary to which one adds new words?! (I use English GB, btw.) I am tired of having to start over again everytime I install the latest LO :-( . So, if anyone knows could you please let me know? Thanks. [opensuse] Keyboard shortcut and Firefox

Is there a way to either disable or modify the keyboard for closing Firefox? The problem I'm having is that I often unintentionally hit the Q instead of the W when trying to close a window thereby closing Firefox and losing the open tabs (they aren't saved for some reason). This is in combination with the control key. I'm getting old and my fingers don't always move where I want them to. [opensuse] 13.1 KDE/Network Scanner in a different subnet

Hi, I asked the same question with 12.3(?) before, and got no comments, so I was just hoping I could find a solution with 13.1. But I still can't find a way to let this 13.1 machine recognize an hp photosmart premium c309g as a scanner in Yast(GUI). Its printer part is working fine because I can specify it's IP(192.168.199.241/28), which is outside of this PC's subnet (172.16.1.0/24). Is there any way to install it via CLI?
