HI Does anyone know how to make changes to the printer config actually work i.e. colour changes, printing quality.? I've got the latest samsung driver installed. The printer is connected to my Linux PC via USB and the Windows machine uses it via Wifi. [opensuse] Install same packages?

Hello, on Debian/Ubuntu you can save the package list and install the same packages on an other PC or reinstall packages on a clean setup. This is helpful i.e. for reinstalling systems with backups. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReinstallingSamePackages Is there something similar in the RPM world? I already know "rpm -qa". But this is not perfect. A missing feature is, that I want to install the packages from the same repositories like on the source PC. [opensuse] Libre office calc insists on capitalizing some cell contents.

However, when in a LibreOffice cell I type "agosto" it is automatically replaced with "Agosto". Undo doesn't undo the capitalization. I edit it back, and it is undone. I go to autocorrect, and I add an exception: Replace With Agosto agosto Useless. In options, I untick "Capitalize first letter of every sentence". Useless. I disable "Use replacement table". Useless. What else is left? Where else does it get the order to replace what *I* write with something else? I create a new sheet. I start in a column writing: agosto enero Agosto agosto <--- here it corrects me to Agosto. It refuses to accept lowercase, till I copy paste the first cell into the 4th. agosto on subsequent cells, it forces using the same case as the previous one. Why? Now it insists on using "agosto". Where can I disable that silly, stupid behaviour? ME mandates what to write in MY documents! :-/ In order to correct this, I now have to open a second document, there in a new sheet write the text in the format I want, and copy the cell back to the intended place in the first document. [opensuse] Volume control

I am using openSUSE 13.2 on a 64bit machine. I have an external sound card connected by USB - SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 which is SoundBlaster. After installation of the OS I had to install alsa firmware to get the soud card to show up in YaST2-Sound which is now configurable. The problem I am having is I don't have a widget or applet to adjust the volume in the task bar. I also noticed I don't have a network connection widget or applet there either. Can someone please advise me on how to show these two widgets on the task bar. The only way I can adjust my volume is the external speakers volume button which I want to leave at one setting. And I would like to view my network connection while I am connected. Thanks in advance. [opensuse] How to reclaim performance lost over gradual slowdown?

So, I've noticed how nice a new installation is. Then it gets progressively sluggish over time. Some of it is obvious such as when the programs menu has more programs in it. Other than that though, not so obvious. [opensuse] how is bash scrambling typed user commands?

Since the new install of opensuse 12.3, there are times when commands entered into xterm windows are scrambled or trashed thus: Entered: "ifdown wlan9" Echoed: "iwanolw fdn9" (sans quotes, of course.) I am absolutely certain it is not merely echoing what I entered. This occurs most often when command is entered immediately after the window receives focus and when there is a delay before the command is echoed by the shell. This also occurs in konsole and mlterm but with less frequency. It has also happened a couple times entering urls in qupzilla and firefox. Any idea what is going on here? [opensuse] old problem again: time stamps of file on sdcard vfat filesystem

Hello: This is an old problem but I still have no key how to solve it. I have an sdcard used in a digital camera. Photos were taken in February. I want to copy the files from there to my openSUSE 12.2 desktop computer. I also want the files to have local time stamps corresponding to the original time stamp on the vfat filesystem. For example if the picture was taken (according to creation time in the file's metainfo) at 10:30, I want 10:30 to be the file's time stamp after mounting the sdcard. Currently the file's time stamp is 09:30 if I don't use tz option for the mount command. If I use tz=UTC option the file's time stamp is 11:30. Neither of these is correct. I tried yo use other values for tz, utz=CET, tz=UTC+1 etc but they were not accepted. It is really important to have the correct time stamps, so how can I? do You use no firewall foe Your notebook? it would be better, to care about that! without a firewall, anyone, who has the knowledge, can take over Your pc, and You have no more to think about biving Your passwords to the programmers of SuSe! Even my t-com-box , I use here, produced by former state official T-COM , has a simple firewall . And, You can set a minimum on policies, to prevent free access to Your data, SuSe´s firewall has more finegraded functions, You block services per port & their are { since I have learned networking in the early 1990´s } a whole bunch of ports more, which can be used to transfer ~ 1050 types o f protocols, to be used to transfer data to & from Your ASUS notebook. You should improve Your knowledge in Internet & Network Security, Ruben, after that, You will ask, how good Your Mint Firewall will protect You from external access & not rely on "linux" as a whole..., vulnerabilities in os are as a minefield, you never know, if the next is expolding behind, right, left or above You...:-D in every case, have a nice day in Brooklyn .
