[opensuse] external router problem

Hello: I would like to connect to the network from my openSUSE 12.1 system using a Pirelli DRG A225G router. According to the router's manual I should configure the DSL connection by configuring the router through its web interface. The web interface should be accessible from a browser at the 192.168.1.254 IP address. Unfortunately I don't have a clue how I can access the router. I have connected the router's LAN1 connection to the computer's network card connection by an ethernet cable. I connected the DSL/phone cable to the router's DSL connection. On the router the following lights are lighting in green: POWER, LAN1, WLAN, DSL, INTERNET. But I can not access the router from a web browser: http://192.168.1.254/ does not connect to anything. Pinging 192.168.1.254 gives "connect: Network is unreachable" message, even if I turn off the firewall. How to configure an external router in opensuse? How could I make this connection work? I tried to google but could not find any relevant information. Furthermore as I can access the net only through a voice modem currently, I can not do extensive queries. [opensuse] Curious problem with Chromium on 12.3

Recently, I've started having a problem with Chromium on my notebook computer. When I try to go to GMail or Google+, the the app shows an error: "Aw, Snap Something went wrong while displaying this webpage To continue, reload or go to another page." This happens only on my Thinkpad E520 with openSUSE 12.3 My desktop computer, also 12.3 has no problem, nor does the E520 when running Windows 7. I can access those pages with Firefox on the E520 with 12.3. At the moment, I have no extensions enabled. Other sites work fine. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chromium. [opensuse] kmail does not complete a check-mail but works in icewm and LXDE

On my computer I have two versions of openSUSE 12.3. One based on Tumbleweed and one running a normal update. On both systems I have the problem that in KDE my kmail does no do a check mail. The 3 pop mail accounts do show but do not fetch mail. If I logout and go to icewm or lxde kmail works right away. Some times going back to KDE I found that kmail works there again but this is not every time. I use the traditional ifup. Could somebody help me out? On that tunnel, the remote host is ONLY opening port 33333 for local host use, both IPv4 and IPv6 local host. I'm pretty sure it is not a key issue because the tunnels are being eststablished for both. It is just that when openSUSE 12.3 is the remote end, I have to be on that server to use the tunnel. Not really what I want / need, and I don't understand why the difference. Is there a bug in opneSUSE 12.3? [opensuse] latest drivers

Hi all, Last week we had a discussion in our department. We provide others with a ready-to-run usb-stick, we often we get reports of hardware not working (while we know that in a subsequent release of a distro it is working) My idea was to switch to Tumbleweed, not only using: ../repositories/openSUSE:/Tumbleweed/standard/ And also the others in ../repositories/driver:/wireless/openSUSE_Tumbleweed and ../repositories/driver:/nic/openSUSE_Tumbleweed And perhaps those in X11:/lxde, filesystems and security:/chipcard/ But i was confronted with reports from Greg, indicating a rough ride with regards to display drivers. [opensuse] btrfs fsck at boot??

Over the w/e I converted my 12.2 desktop to 12.3 by the 'change the repository and zypper up' method. A few problems with kde4 that I don't think have to do with me - more n that later. As regular readers will recall, this desktop is running one big btrfs that occupies the whole disk. No separate /boot or anything. This was a 'show it can be done' exercise and on the whole is doing well. Going over the boot messages in more detail to make sure all is well, post conversion, I notice a few errors reported from the btrfs startup. They don't seem to affect function, but it makes me wonder... I can't run btrfsck (yes I know its depreciated) or the equivalent on a mounted file system after boot. I do know that the other systems I have run the other FS fsck at boot. How can I get 12.3 to run btrfsck at boot? -- How long did the whining go on when KDE2 went on KDE3? The only universal constant is change. If a species can not adapt it goes extinct. [opensuse] Is the KDE4.10 repository out of sync?

As I mentioned, I upgraded my 12.2 workjtstation to 12.3 via the repositories method and now I see # zypper install kdebase4-workspace-branding-openSUSE-12.3 kdelibs4-branding-openSUSE-12.3 Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Resolving package dependencies... Problem: kwin-4.10.4-927.1.i586 requires kdebase4-workspace-branding = 4.10.4, but this requirement cannot be provided uninstallable providers: kdebase4-workspace-branding-upstream-4.10.4-12.1.i586[KDE:Release:410] How come there is a 4.10.4 in there with the 4.10.3? [opensuse] What does this mean in netstat -an output. Is it IPv6 related?

All, netstat -an is showing me this in part: == tcp 0 0 ::1:33388 :::* LISTEN tcp 0 0 :::80 :::* LISTEN tcp 0 0 ::1:33333 :::* LISTEN tcp 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN == What does ::::80 mean (I know port 80 is http)? What does ::1:33333 mean? Is it IPv6 stuff? background: I'm trying to tunnel port 33333 to another machine via a ssh -R tunnel, but it's not working. This is the only listen for 33333 I have . I expected to see 0.0.0.0:33333 but it;s not showing up. I do have a 127.0.0.1:33333 listen, but that won't let me connect remotely.
