Hi Problem: The xscreensaver that comes with 12.1 doesn't support Kerberos 5 Possible solution: gnome-screensaver which comes with Ubuntu does unlock with your Kerberos credetials. Try that with 12.1? What I've done: Install gnome-screensaver using yast cd /usr/bin mv xscreensaver xscreensaver.bak ln -s gnome-screensaver xscreensaver No surprize, now the screensaver dialogue in XFCE Settings Manager doesn't work. Starting gnome-screensaver gives: ** (gnome-screensaver:5232): WARNING **: Couldn't get presence status: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files Questions 1. Is it possible configure gnome-screensaver under XFCE (without installing most of Gnome)? 2. Any other ideas? [opensuse] can't unlock xscreensaver

Hi everyone Logged into a Samba 4 domain from a 12.1 client under xfce, xscreensaver will not accept my Samba 4 password. /etc/pam.d/xscreensaver makes no mention of Samba 4 nor Kerberos. I understand that Samba 4 is still alpha, but maybe someone has a 12.1 client joined to a 2008-R2 AD and can help here. How can I let xscreensaver know that I'm not authenticating via gnome-keyring, locally nor via LDAP? [opensuse] attachments in thunderbird 9

Hi everyone, I am using thunderbird 9 on my office pc, opensuse 12.1 32 bit. I get attachments with emails, and in particular the pdf attachments are what are causing a problem. I want to open pdf attachments with okular, but when click to open the attachment, my only option is to open with GIMP. the dialog box does not allow me to choose another application besides GIMP, which is the default. How do I configure thunderbird so that I can choose the application to open, or else set pdf files to open with okular? Of course pdf files when opened from dolphin or anywhere else will open with okular. I was able to configure thunderbird on my home pc to open attachments with okular, but I can't remember how I did it. Now I am stuck, and searching the forums doesn't yield any help. The mimeedit extension for thunderbird seemed to work for some people before, but that extension has been removed from thunderbird options. [opensuse] Broken wine in 12.1 distribution

Just a heads up, the standard version of wine 1.3.30-2.1.2-xxx, that comes with the 12.1 distribution, is seriously broken. I could not get any of the PortableApps that I use to run under it. Googling shows others having problems with both the versions that come with both 12.1 and 11.4. To fix, there is a release candidate of wine - 1.3.38_1.4rc1-2.1-xxx available from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Emulators:/Wine/openSUSE_12.1/ that works fine... Dunno if this should be reported as a bug, since I dunno what openSuSE's policy is regarding products that are still undergoing testing, so there may not be a viable alternate for the distribution's main repository... But to my way of thinking, it is better to distribute a working test version of a product than a broken released product... [opensuse] Configuring Kmail account (for receiving) in KDE v4.7

The OS is openSuSE v12.1 x86_64, newly installed in a clean partition. Configuring Kmail for sending was a snap; to do the same for receiving has me flummoxed. In Kmail settings > Accounts > Receiving, I see a screen that offers me a choice between defining a Local folder or an Akonadi folder. No problem there -- I chose the local folder, and accepted the default folder name. What now? I do not see any clue about how to progress to actually configuring an account -- username, password, server name, etc. The very ample Help screen is of no help, since it seems not to have caught up with v4.7, and it fails to mention this first screen at all. I have also found nothing through a 'Net search. Either I am missing something that is obvious to everyone else, or there is a bug on this screen. [opensuse] 11.4 Update (gtk?) messed up thunderbird thread marker triangles?

Guys, It seems one of the latest updates did something to the little triangle thread markers in thunderbird that show when a thread has responses. Now the triangles for collapsed threads look like little squiglies. The downward facing triangles showing expanded threads look OK. Anybody else see this? Does this look like a Gtk issue or an issue with thunderbird? This screenshot shows what I'm seeing: [64k] http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/img/misc/tbird-triangles.jpg I don't think this problem is gtk2 itself because I see the same behavior on arch with gtk2 2.24.9-2. So it seems to be in some related/supporting package that draws the little triangles in thunderbird. I don't think this is just thunderbird related either, others have reported the same problems on all apps compiled against gtk2. Any ideas what package/library might be the root cause of the problem?
