[opensuse] OpenSuSE 12.1: syslog-ng don't start automatically at boot time

Hello all, Fresh installed OpenSuSE 12.1 x64. I have changed the default syslog to syslog-ng, because i need it. De-installed rsyslogd (don't need it). When i do an rcsyslog start, i have that result: rcsyslog start redirecting to systemctl Job failed. See system logs and 'systemctl status' for details. systemctl status syslog.service syslog.service - System Logging Service Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/syslog.service; enabled) Active: failed since Fri, 03 Feb 2012 14:43:24 +0100; 17s ago Process: 26651 ExecStart=/sbin/rsyslogd -c 5 -f /etc/rsyslog.early.conf (code=exited, status=203/EXEC) Process: 26648 ExecStartPre=/var/run/rsyslog/addsockets (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Process: 26646 ExecStartPre=/bin/systemctl stop systemd-kmsg-syslogd.service (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Main PID: 23644 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) CGroup: name=systemd:/system/syslog.service Clearly, it try to execute rsyslogd, but i have changed the config of /etc/sysconfig/syslog to: SYSLOG_DAEMON="syslog-ng" There is some type of bug about this? Or i am missing something new of the new OpenSuSE 12.1? Btw, if i try to execute syslog-ng manually, it works, with some errors: syslog-ng -f /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf Plugin module not found in 'module-path'; module-path='/lib64/syslog-ng:/usr/lib64/syslog-ng', module='afsql' WARNING: the match() filter without the use of the value() option is deprecated and hinders performance, please update your configuration; Second error can be patched, but the first... missing a module? Need help on this pls. [opensuse] KDM Theme

[opensuse] Blocked acces to opensuse web site

I am not able to access the "www.opensuse.org" web site. Using "www.opensuse.org" only produces, after a long delay, a "Problem loading page" message. I am using opensuse 11.1 If I change to another computer on my nat local network which is running opensuse 10.2 my access is ok. Neither computers has any problems with access to say "www.w3.org" or many others. Does "www.opensuse.org" web server have any blocking based on say mac address? What mailing list is most appropriate to ask this question on? Hi, I found a lot of errors from sshd in /var/log/messages but ssh works, though. sshd[9448]: error: Could not load host key: /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key Well, obviously it can't load that key as there is no such file. The OpenSuse 12.1 install didn't create it so I suppose that is intentionally. [opensuse] nfs4 takes up 90% of CPU

Hi 12.1 Using a secured nfs4 mount takes a hell of a lot of processing power: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 3540 root 20 0 4092 896 856 R 96.5 0.2 18:58.78 rpc.gssd mount shows: hh3:/home/ on /mnt type nfs4 (rw,relatime,vers=4,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,namlen=255,hard,proto=tcp,port=0,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=krb5,clientaddr=192.168.1.3,minorversion=0,local_lock=none,addr=192.168.1.3) I accept that Kerberos will take it's toll, but this much? I've a bugzilla against rpc.svcgssd (which I think is deprecated but still used in openSUSE) so this maybe related. No luck yet however. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=745412 I think that this must be an openSUSE issue as an Ubuntu client can mount the share with very little gss activity. Meanwhile, could anyone see anything suspicious in the mount output above? [opensuse] Network printing problem

Greetings I'm not great at networking stuff so I've probably missed something obvious, but I have a Lexmark Optra S printer. It has no ethernet connection but I want to hook it up to the network so the wife can use it rather using the obscenely expensive to run Canon bubblejet thing. So I got a TP-Link print server and hooked it up. And this is where it gets odd. I can ping the print server, I changed the ip address to match our subnet (10.0... etc, default was 192.168.etc) via my browser. But for some odd reason when I try to get the printer setup in YAST (I use OpenSuSE 11.4) it can't locate it. Anyone have any ideas? Firewall is switched off. Main machine has a fixed ip 10.1.1.3, print server is 10.1.1.10, samba is running. DHCP is not Annoyingly, I have Win 7 running in a Virtualbox instance on this machine and that prints no problem. So that would seem to narrow it down to CUPS. But I set it up in CUPS and it says it's not there The print server knows the printer is there and I can ping the print server and get into the admin via a browser and do all the settings Hair on right hand side of head is thin from scratching.
