[opensuse] Patch management for OpenSUSE

Hello, I am wondering since some time how others cope with patch management on OpenSUSE Clients, when you have a bunch of PCs in a network. Somebody who can recommend a open source tool to cover the basics (e.g. a tool automating updates with zypper over ssh or something similar)? Thanks! For those that haven't listened to what the developers are saying about the current readiness of kde4, the following provides a bit of insight: http://www.mail-archive.com/kde-devel@kde.org/msg00343.html OpenSuSE was wise to preserve kde3 for 11.3. From the contents of the message above, it would be equally wise to preserve kde3 for 11.4 as well.... Releasing broken software is never a good idea... If you think KDE4 is anything other than beta, despite the astronomical release number following the K the D and the E, the link above should remove all doubt. [opensuse] Hauppauge NOVA-HD-S2 not detected

Hi, I've bought a Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2 card, which according to http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2 should be "...supported in the stock Linux kernel since version 2.6.28, so ideally you should simply use 2.6.28 or later, ..." But my card is not detected, there are apparently no kernel modules loaded for the card and no message appears in dmesg. I tried the card under both openSUSE 11.2 and 11.3, with identical results. [opensuse] No sound in wine

Hi! Today something strange happened: no sound in Wine! What should I do? Winecfg says audio test failed. The sound works well in other apps. [opensuse] Samsung SCX-4x26 problem solved

I wrote a while back about my troubles with the Samsung SCX-4x26 not working properly. If anyone else has problems, there is a new driver at: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCX-4826FN/XAA Both printing and scanning work after the automatic setup. I haven't tried the FAX functionality yet. There is still an annoying "USB Device Not Available" pop up, but I've been ignoring it and everything works fine ... so far. [opensuse] Empty Trash Problem

I have been doing some playing with Vbox and now wish to delete the virtual drives I created, when I do I get " The trash has reached it's maximum size. Cleanup the trash manually " My Trash Can is empty! I know I have seen this before but can't remember what I need to do to fix it. TIA. [opensuse] Kaffeine Issues

Hi folks Well having had to do a reinstall of 11.3 i have most hings working but i still get one complaint from kaffeine when trying to watch TV i get Cannot find demux plugin for MRL"fifo:/home/pete/.kde4/share/apps/kaffeine/dvbpipe.m2t". [opensuse] old kernel lib directories

Is there *any* reason to maintain directories, most are empty and some still contain nvidia drivers and vbox***.ko files, from removed kernels, ie: /lib/modules/2.6.37-rc6-default /lib/modules/2.6.36-rc4-18-default and quite a few others. I discovered these directories while searching for something else :^). If there is no reason to maintain these directories, why aren't they removed by zypper. I try the newer kernels and when I don't find a problem, remove the previous, maintaining only the stock updated kernel and one other well performing kernel. This driver isn't in the Kernel, you need to compile it) and the Phillips SAA7130. There's also the Conexant MPEG chips in the WinTV PVR-150 and PVR-500 cards but I couldnt tell you if the MPEG hardware encoding actually works. I have used it in Linux ages ago as a TV tuner.
