Dear my friends.... I use OpenSuSE 11.1, KMail and DoveCot version: " sussy:/etc/ssl/certs # dovecot --version 1.1.7 ". I have created local linux user account on my Postfix+DoveCot server. I also can access the content of my mailbox from my KMail. I am so happy but once I try to send email (testing the smtp) than I realize that I can't send an email from my email client (KMail). I use this setting on my email client: 1. 'incoming mailserver' == 'outgoing mailserver' == 'mail.mygoogle.com' (pseudonome). Also username and password are all the same between incoming/outgoing mailserver, namely the local userlogin of LINUX. As the username, I put 'ricky' (but not 'ricky(a)mygoogle.com'). 2. smtp authentication: No encryption and plaintext. The error message on my KMail is: " Sending failed: Your SMTP server does not support The server responded: "5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: generic failure". Choose a different authentication method. The server responded: "5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: generic failure" The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the 'outbox' folder. The following transport was used: mygoogle.com Do you want me to continue sending the remaining messages? " and also: " Sending failed: Your SMTP server does not support The server responded: "5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: generic failure". Choose a different authentication method. [opensuse] KDE4: How do I get it to stop opening terminals in ~/Documents

KDE 3.5 used to open terminals in my home directory instead of Documents. I know this is a silly question, but I don't see any settings for this and Google has been most unhelpful on the topic. [opensuse] kst2 in kde4

kst is a great tool. My first question is why it is in the educational category. It is a proper scientific/engineering tool. educational, to me, conjures up learning French or geography. labPlot is similarly improperly categorized. Now to the real issue. I am trying to run the current version 2 beta on a 4.3.1 kde4 system. However, the app fails with: Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". Segmentation fault This is true. I do not have glx on the machine in question (ATI FireGL V3300 is not supported by the ATI driver...) Is this a compile flag that openSUSE set so that kst requires this? [opensuse] HELP WITH SUSPEND PROBLEM

Dear all I recently did an online update. I noticed it update compat-wireless and a few other stuff. After reboot my system now hangs when i try to suspend to ram or disk. I have to do a manual power off and reboot again. I run openSUSE 11.1 on a dell inspiron 6400. [opensuse] the fundamental SuSE package management tools?

again, as a relative suse newbie, i'm wondering what people consider the *fundamental* package management tools in opensuse/SLES/SLED. from a long history with red hat/fedora, i can do anything i want with "rpm" and "yum". i'm not a big fan of graphical front ends, when those two commands will do pretty much everything i need. when i recently got into debian, my first reaction was ... what the heck? dpkg. apt-get. aptitude. dselect. etc, etc. so i learned the minimum of what i needed, and that was fine. with suse, so far, i'm working with "rpm" and "zypper". david rankin highly recommended installing "webpin" so, in a nutshell, what do people consider the must-have package management utilities for suse systems? thanks. rday -- ======================================================================== Robert P. [opensuse] kde widget bar size

Anyone know which .kde4 config file controls the size of the kde bar at the bottom of the screen ? My computer locked up coming out of suspend mode, and ever since the kde bar (plasma?) is only 3/4's of the screen width. There's also two half-moon widgets in the upper right corner. I've seen as many as four widgets there ... [opensuse] Network setup problem

Hi, I just finished building a new desktop computer, in order to teach myself more about how they work. I have installed a linux driver for the integrated ethernet card on the motherboard from realtek, and it works well. Unfortunately it only works after I configure the card in yast each time after I boot. How do I configure things so that the card will be activated at boot? [opensuse] New installation, erratic mouse cursor

I've installed v11.1 on a new notebook machine, and am finding it difficult to control the mouse. The motion of its cursor is erratic when I am trying to move it, sometimes jumping clear across the screen; it's enough to try ones patience. The external mouse and the machines touch panel behave identically, so the problem must not be in the mouse itself, but then I don't know what to suspect.
