[opensuse] find between two dates?

I have a question for 'find' experts. I want to find all files between two specific dates, and was able to do it with -mtime, but wonder if there's an easier way to do it. I used: find . -type f -daystart -mtime +LATER -a -mtime -EARLIER -exec ls -l {} \; where LATER is 3 for 5 Sept 2009 and EARLIER is 6 for 2 Sept 2009, to find files modified between 3 and 4 September. It works, but it feels cumbersome and the same values can't be used tomorrow to locate files for the same dates. Am I missing something obvious? -- Jim

[opensuse] open Office file dialogs don't show navigation tree - how to fix?

Listmates, On opensuse 11.0 after update to the latest openOffice 3.1.1.1-1.1, the file open dialogs seem to have reverted back to some old style of dialog that doesn't have a navigation tree ( whatever you call it ) that allows you to easily navigate up and down through directories. What I see now is shown here: (64k) http://www.3111skyline.com/download/openSUSE_bugs/kde4/screenshots/oo-file- dialog.jpeg I'm sure this is a situation where I need to change an option to use my kde dialogs in openOffice, or something similar, but I can't find the setting. [opensuse] OpenSuSE problem with suid

Dear All, Need some advise / sharing about Perl suid. I got problem to install Qmail-Scanner (Q-S) that got error below. I have change the /etc/permission.local for file /usr/bin/suidperl with attribute 4711, but Q-S still unable to be installed. Thx & Rgds, Wong --snip-- Testing suid nature of /usr/bin/perl... Whoa - broken perl install found. [opensuse] Empty screensavers list (KDE 3.5.10)

Hello list, I just upgraded my laptop to OS 11.1. Everything went well, but I have a strange problem: the screensavers list in "Configure Desktop" is completely empty. The following packages are installed: xscreensaver-5.07-6.41 kdeartwork3-xscreensaver-3.5.10-1.62 kdeartwork3-kscreensaver-3.5.10-1.62 My previous choice of screensaver is still present in .kde/share/config/kdesktoprc and functional. [opensuse] migrating SUSE 9.2 to virtualbox machine

I have a physical server running SUSE 9.2 (which I cannot upgrade), and I am attempting to move it to a virtual machine using VirtualBox. I have changed grub and fstab to reflect the new hard drive names (hda instead of sda). I can get the virtual machine to boot into single user mode, but it freezes after a few minutes. If I boot into runlevel 5, I get an ncurses Yast which says "ACCEPT" and "CANCEL" and shows a big gray box where the menu choices should be. Choosing "ACCEPT" or "CANCEL" locks up the virtual machine. What am I missing? I'm guessing it's a hardware detection problem. I'm pretty experienced with Linux, but I'm new to SUSE. [opensuse] KDE 4.3.1 Desktop Errors

Using openSUSE 11.1 (i686, 32-bit) I have just upgraded to KDE 4.3.1 (Rel 163) a couple of days back. On enabling the desktop folder view [Pict 1], I am getting the following errors: - Any folder on the desktop opens with Gwenview on clicking it (should open w/ Dolphin or Konqueror, by default) - Both, Konqueror & Dolphin show all the application files as files with the [.dektop] extension. [Pict 2] - On trying to run any application on the desktop, it gives an error message, which shows the file as a <.desktop> file and says that the file should be executable to run (checking properties of the file, all are executable, as they are applications). This happens with all apps on desktop: Firefox, OpenOffice.org Starter, etc. (Images [3], [4] - these are for Firefox, but happens with any app/shortcut on the desktop). However, the apps can be run from the Kicker Menu. Any suggestions to fix the problem, because in all other respects, KDE 4.3.1 seems stable and functional.
