[opensuse] "nothing provides atom:..."

Dear list, I tried to do some general update with yast2 (OpenSuse 11.0, KDE3), and ended up with tons of conflicts: "nothing provides atom:...." The only offered option for "Conflict resolution" is "do not install patch <pkg_name>" Since I have around 100 of these, i'd rather not go through it by hand. Is there anything like kinternetmanager for the command line? I was thinking of putting the WPA key in a script and using cinternetmanager. But surely there is an easier way. [opensuse] BASH - Need help with ssh remote directory test?

Listmates, I have run into another bash caveat I don't understand. Evidently, the ssh call I am making is returning an "exit" following execution of the first pass and never getting to the rest of the hostnames I want to test. It is part of a script that will take a new or modified file and scp it to the same directory on my list of remote hosts. The relevant portions of the script are: FILENAME=`basename $1` if [[ ${DIRNAME:0:1} == '/' ]]; then DIRNAME=`dirname $1` else DIRNAME=${PWD}/`dirname $1` fi while read DESTHOST; do if ssh $DESTHOST '[[ -d "$DIRNAME" || $(mkdir -p "DIRNAME") -eq 0 ]]'; then if scp ${DIRNAME}/${FILENAME} $DESTHOST:${DIRNAME}/${FILENAME}; then echo -e "Transfer to $DESTHOST ${lightgreen}[OK]${nc}" else echo -e "Transfer to $DESTHOST ${red}[Failed]${nc}" fi else echo "$DESTHOST is Unavailable" fi done < /home/david/linux/scripts/network/dsshosts 23:22 alchemy:~> cat /home/david/linux/scripts/network/dsshosts ecstasy killerz nirvana nemesis zion bonza.rbpllc.com providence.rbpllc.com The irrelevant, but curious parts of the script are: red='\e[0;31m' # ${red} lightgreen='\e[1;32m' # ${lightgreen} nc='\e[0m' # ${nc} What happens is the script runs through host ecstasy and then finishes. If I comment the 'if ssh $DESTHOST...' or replace it with anything else, it runs through all the hosts as expected. So for reasons I don't understand, the 'if ssh...' call is making it exit. I have tried every variant I can think of. I tried putting the ssh check in a function: ckdestdir () { return $(ssh $1 '[[ -d "$DIRNAME" || $(mkdir -p "DIRNAME") -eq 0 ]]') } No joy. I tried putting the call in a subshell: if { ssh $DESTHOST '[[ -d "$DIRNAME" || $(mkdir -p "DIRNAME") -eq 0 ]]' }; then No joy, same result every time. It runs through ecstasy and quits. (at least that is consistent). So I'm stumped as to which part of man bash I'm not complying with? Any help to cure my present CRI would be greatly appreciated. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. It looks like what is happening is that once ssh $DESTHOST '[[ -d "$DIRNAME" || $(mkdir -p $DIRNAME) ]]' is called and passed to the remote host, the remote host has no idea what $DIRNAME is and the script fails. [opensuse] Howto Use/Relay Ports to Connect to Other Computers from Outside?

Listmates: I guess this situation is a port forwarding situation, but I'm not sure how to attack the problem. I have a limited number of IP entries in my router that I can use to forward traffic through to other machines on my office LAN from the outside. I need to learn how to setup ports on my primary server that will send/receive information to and from other computers on the lan. What is the best way to do this? In the past the only experience I have had with this is ssh port forwarding to forward X or reach other machines behind the router. Is that what I need to do even though the traffic isn't ssh? Do I need to set up IP tables? Can I do that with SuSEfirewall? The layout I need is like this: internet server port:12344 <==============>[ ]<----------------->[ ] client1 port:12345 |\ | \<---------------->[ ] client2 port:12346 |\ | \<---------------->[ ] client3 port:12347 [ ] client4 port:12348 What mechanism do I need to go learn so that I can set up something like this generically without relying on ssh only?
