[opensuse] Question about Ruby on Rails

Guys, We are about to use Ruby, and I see that on openSUSE 11.1 the lastest is 1.8.7, but we are being asked to install Ruby on Rails 2.3.2, what's the difference? [opensuse] ksmserver not found

After my last zypper up I got some processes running using deleted files. I rebooted and was not admitted into KDE because ksmserver could not be found. The information was completed with the sentence 'check your installation" Yast did not find any irregularity, zypper ps reported that no deleted files. Read the dmesg and had a look into /var/log/messages. Found following problems but I am not closer to a solution. [opensuse] Dual booting with Windows - 2 partitions on a single drive

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, which is running Windows Vista Home Premium. The machine has a single drive, 250Gb. I would like to install openSUSE 11.2 alongside the Windows OS, so that I can dual boot, but I would like to hear of other people who have already done this without any mishaps. Or maybe I want to hear from those who did have mishaps, and how they overcame them. I have done the process of installing linux after Windows before, and YaST looked after me all the way, but about six months ago I tried to impress a friend, and ended up with an unbootable machine - the BIOS reported 'no operating system found'. I know that both operating systems were installed in their respective partitions, and the problem was something to do with grub writing into the MBR, which upset Windows Vista :( I have googled to a few forums, where I have found howtos, and I have read the HowTo on the openSUSE site which describes installing openSUSE alongside Windows, but onto separate hard drives. Any pointers would be welcome. Meanwhile, I'm defragmenting Windows, in preparation for resizing its partition. [opensuse] Keyboard shortcuts priority

Is there a way to specify the priority of keyboard shortcuts when the same key sequence is assigned to start an application and to trigger a specific action in a running process ? Example: CTRL+ALT+C is assigned to start Google Chrome, but in Eclipse the same sequence is used for "Commit ..." action. When the Eclipse window is active and the above sequence is used, Google Chrome is started. [opensuse] No sound in Banshee or Amarok

Hi guys No matter what I do I can't get any sound from Banshee or Amarok. I have followed this page (found on openSUSE Wiki): http://www.justuber.com/blog/2007/02/09/mp3-on-opensuse-5-minute-fix/ Need to mention that I had to create folder /opt/gnome/lib/gstreamer-0.10 as it didn't exist. I've tried any possible sound combination in Amarok where in Sound output / Music I have: HDA Intel CONEXANT Analog PulseAudio In Enigne I have: Xine GStreamer But no matter how I try to any combination I don't get any sound when using Amarok. There's no problem if I fire up for VLC and put on a MP3 or a video file. What have I missed? I'm on openSuse 11.2 using Packman and have done all updates.
