[opensuse] ext3 about to die? I hope not...

The file system is in use. It seems to be working ok. Just these messages. How could I find out which directory is #605117? Or am I looking at this wrong? A bit of Googling suggested (among lots of strange things) that fdisk may originally have reported the partition size wrong, and now the file system is trying to access a part that never really existed. Seems odd. How would I see f this is the case? [opensuse] remove raid from hard drive

A year or so ago I experimented with raid on my pc. I don't remember the brand but I remember the card was a soft raid controller. I eventually gave up and just went to making backups. It doesn't seem to bother Windows but When I try to install SuSE, the drive is detected as a raid drive. I need to know how to remove the raid marking so the drive will be a normal drive again. Because of some other problems with the partitions, I would like to totally wipe the drive and start over (as if I just bought it). I don't know how to wipe in a way that will also remove the raid marking. Though I have tried reading about raid, I don't understand well about such things as the superblock and I don't know where this superblock is or if that is what is causing the drive to be detected as a raid drive. So far in searching this list and googling, I haven't come up with anything. Any suggestions? [opensuse] Network Configuration problem, DHCP

On openSUSE 11.0 with updates, the net connection using a DSL Router connected through a USB port (detected as eth1: TI NDIS USB Device, where TI = Texas Instruments) worked fine till now (installed a week ago) ; but by error I altered the connection settings to include DHCP (i.e. obtain DNS Name addresses via DHCP). Now, I cannot configure it connect using a static IP & using the DNS Servers that the ISP provides. Now, the 'Update DNS data via DHCP' box remains checked (it is greyed out, as seen in the picture) & I cannot connect to the web. The screenshot is that of the Yast Network Configuration screen with the error is here - http://lvznow.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pY3CJGECi02MReuwa_Ve7CV1DushZFdQNiu7l… Any suggestions/further steps on how to resolve this? PS: - On shutting down the system yesterday, there was a message stating the eth1 (TI NDIS USB Device) connection was not detected/changed & that I should file a bugzilla report. [opensuse] sftp, howto chroot users to their home directories

Hello, I set up secure ftp by editing sshd_config and tried using 'sftp' to log in, but found that I am not locked into my home dir. How can I chroot users into their home dir's sftp or an sftp client? On another note, is there an sftp server that folks recommend? I'm trying to investigating (again) log file and found that phonon could not be found and failed to install. After remove the package on config.xml (I will add from another repos later), process running out without problem. I'm really appreciated with your knowledge about kiwi. Anyone have any joy trying to watch the Democratic Convention Videos? It requires Silverlight. I installed Mono plugin and UserAgent, but no luck yet. Just as Flash seems to start to work for me... Once they have ssh connection they can access anything that they could access if they were signed in locally. They can download anything they can see. So you have to manage it with permissions. However, it sounds to me like you are up the wrong tree barking. If you want FTP use FTP. You actually have more control with a typical ftp server. If you wouldn't trust them to ssh into your server you shouldn't allow them to sftp into the server. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` I wouldn't agree with that. Outside clients want the security of sftp and I would want them locked into their home directory without the ability of 'cd'ing up the dir tree and into other client's home directories. Simple ftp does not offer a secure connection. There must be a way to accomplish this. [opensuse] KDE 4.1 Lag in desktop switching

It seems that I found culprit for slow desktop switching in KDE 4.1. Desktop Grid effect turned off and switching between desktops is fast as it has to be. On better graphic adapters this should be no problem, but mine is Geforce 6100 built in where program window start to slide than stop for a very short moment, and then finishes sliding. I logged in after number of updates today. Here is current version of kdebase4. [opensuse] syncronizing a Blackberry device to an OpenSuSE machine

Hello everyone! Has anyone had a successful experience getting your Blackberry synchronized to a machine running OpenSuSE (we run V10.3)? If so, can you relay how you did it? I know some people have done it on Ubuntu but I just can't seem to be able to get it up and running on SuSE. Thanks.
