[opensuse] Problem with acroread

I have been using 11.0 with no problems for ~2 months. Yesterday, I suddenly could not start acroread. It returns this error message from the command line: :acroread /usr/bin/acroread: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: \ undefined symbol: g_signal_new_class_handler This is on a 64 bit system with 64 bit Suse. I tried reinstalling acroread and gtk with no effect. I don't think I had changed anything on the system which would have caused this. Acroread had worked fine until the last day or so. Just thought I'd happily report that openSUSE 10.3 seems to run Vista under Virtualbox very nicely. [opensuse] KDE4: No login after latest patches

Hi running OpenSuse 11.0 and KDE4 . Yesterday I updated my KDE4 packages. Since than I can't login into my KDE4 account. Moving the .kde4 directory away didn't make a difference. The file .xsession-errors contains the following: " /etc/X11/xim: Checking whether an input method should be started. /etc/X11/xim: user environment variable LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 sourcing /etc/sysconfig/language to get the value of INPUT_METHOD INPUT_METHOD is not set or empty (no user selected input method). Vista will run just fine without Aero graphics. By default the theme will be the same "My First PC" theme just without transparency or other visual effects. You can also always set the theme to "Windows Classic" just as you could in Windows XP. > I don't know what UAC is. Open the serial port in the C application, controlling it via termio(). 2. Do a blocking read on the port. 3. When data arrived, write it to a disk file. 4. Go to step 2. We have done variations on this theme. For example, setting the serial port to send SIGIO when there is data, and not doing a blocking read. It works great for a while. But suddenly the kernel starts sending SIGIO over and over, even when there is no data. This implies that at some lower level, the kernel thinks there is data to provide, even though the subsequent read will disagree. I would think that, since PPP is using the serial port, Linux's serial port code would be bulletproof. But I also think that such stability is perhaps present when the serial port is used as PPP uses it. For example, I would think that PPP data is of known sizes (headers of known size that report data sizes to be read), and may not do reads of any size. Also, PPP writes as well as reads. Our app never writes to the port. I can provide code examples. I do not think they will indicate anything unusual. Anyone else using the serial port to record data over long periods of time? If it is not a kernel issue, is it possible that there is some application that runs (X? something else?) that wakes up and interferes with the serial port? No serial port specific things seem to be changed. Baud rate and flow control remain unchanged. But maybe just opening it resets the blocking mode for all users? We do not use PPP and, AFAIK no applications that use the serial port are enabled. Hi All ! Next question on topic is: How-to review rare/specific packages ? Such as: "dot2tex" That recently arrived here as candidate: http://en.opensuse.org/Contrib/packages I have zero knowledge in both formats, so I feel like a pig in oranges :) I think the only review that can be done in such cases, is the home page URL (upstream), license, and hope for the better... Alternatively ask Novell guys. But whom ?
