[opensuse] OpenSuse 11.0 und VNC Problem

Hello. Using the new Version 11.0 i got the following problem: Connection via VNC (UltraVNC) to the Linux Server, only the 256KB/s (w/ 256 Colors) is possible. With every other (higher) setting i get a buggy screen and with the first keyboard click the connection crashed. I also tried TightVNC and some others - all had the same problem. [opensuse] OpenSUSE 11.0 locks up

I recently installed OpenSUSE 11.0 on an IBM Netfinity Server. I have since then experienced several lock ups on a previously reliable system (OpenSUSE 10.3 installed). Has anyone else experienced this? [opensuse] upgrade to 11.0 - update mode - fstab

Hi folks, I had some problems updating a 10.3 system to 11.0. The upgrade did not find any root partition. Then I did a show all partitions and selected the right partion. Then I got an error which redirected me to "support.novell.com/techcenter/sdb/en/03/fhassel_update_not_possible.html" The only correct hint in this story was "a possible error in fstab" After some useless exercises I decided to do for test a new install. he instal was without any problems. Then I copied the 11.0 fstab to the old system. The the update ran without any problem. After examining the both fstabs, the only difference I found was: In the bad one where TAB's used in the records. In the correct one where spaces used in the records. [opensuse] RAID problem

I have two identical Western Digital 1TB SATA2 drives, which I am trying to set up as a RAID1 array. They are attached to a Sil 3124 PCI-X SATA Controller. On booting the machine, pressing F4 gets me to the controller card's setup screen, where I can create, destroy and repair RAIDs. I chose to create a RAID1 array, which duly appeared in the list of logical drives on this screen. I was then asked if I wanted to mirror them now or later, so I chose now. It took hours :(. Continuing the boot process, I expected the OS (openSUSE 10.3) to see only the logical drive, but YaST partitioner reported two new Western Digital drives, /dev/sdf and /dev/sdg. I can combine them into a software RAID, but that seems wasteful and redundant, given that I've spent GBP85 on a hardware controller. I've searched through the /dev directory, and can't see anything that suggest the logical drive. Suggestions welcomed, though I know you're all busy upgrading to 11.0 ;) That's my next job. In OpenSUSE 10.3, the file /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc contained a section [Xdmcp], where you could enable remote desktop access. This section does not seem to be there in 11.0. [opensuse] Installing Firefox 3

Hello I have some trouble with Firefox 2 (crashes and is dead slow, 10 sec to alt-tab from another application isn't strange) so I would like to update to Firefox 3. However yast doesn't have firefox 3 yet so I neet to get it from mozilla. They provide me with a tar.bz2 file. Then I hit a brick wall: there is no install, make won't do anything with the files in it and if I add it as a repository there is nothing there. I usually install with yast from the common repositories, so i do not know how to install otherwise. I know some of you already installed 3, so could you please tell me how to do it?
