[opensuse] Firefox Java Plugin

Can anyone explain to me how I get the Java plugin for Firefox working on my AMD64 openSUSE 10.3 system. I understand that I need the 32bit plugin from Sun (there didn't seem to be anything available via YAST), so I've downloaded that and installed it: but Firefox still doesn't pick it up. The installation script has put the plugin at: /usr/java/jre1.6.0_03/plugin/i386/ns7 or perhaps: /usr/java/jre1.6.0_03/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29 (I'm not quite sure which one is correct) In FF in about:config it gives /usr/java for java.default_java_location_others and /usr/j2se for java.default_java_location_solaris. I guess it's the first of those that's the right one. I tried all the paths from /usr/java in about:config (i.e./usr/java/jre1.6.0_03, /usr/java/jre1.6.0_03/plugin, /usr/java/jre1.6.0_03/plugin/i386 and so on). None of them worked - although I didn't restart the browser every time. Can anyone put me right on this? [opensuse] OpenOffice writer nuisance pop up

I remove it, go to another table, it pops again. I remove it, switch to another table and back, it pops again. How can I tell it to NEVER pop up, unless manually requested? It is a real nuisance. [opensuse] Corrupted partition. parted no help

On my Laptop the partition is corrupted and parted and/or partition managerfrom Yast are not able to repair the problem. I am running 10.3 now without aproblem but anything else on this machine does not want to work. It complaints from an overlap from partition 2. I have looked into the partition overview and it gives me following info withthe warning that it not able to change anything. size start endSda 37.2 GB 0 4863sda1 /windows xp 9.7 GB 1 1275sda2 0.0 GB 1276 1276sda3 /drdos 1.9 GB 1277 1532sda4 /xtra 2.9 GB 1533 1914sda5 / (suse10.3) 10.0 GB 1915 3220 sda6 /home 2.0 GB 3221 3482sda7 /suse10.2 10.0 GB 3483 4788sda8 swap 611.8MB 4789 4866 sda1 should be NTFS but is marked in the partition table as Linux native as allthe other partitions. This cannot be rectified for the moment. Sda2 should have been an extended partition as far as I remeber. Swap ends on 4866, three more than the total size of the disc. I have looked into the expert mode of the Yast partition manager but before Idelete the partition table I would like to know if this tool and with aboveinfo I could rebuild a working partition without loosing my setup. sda2should be what? Swap has to be within the size of the harddisc? Looking at the complete disc overview sda I found that the sda2 originallyamounted to 7.8 MB. I assume that the reinstalled drdos just took these 7.8MBfor itself and by doing this corrupted the partition. Would a deletion ofdrdos and giving sda2 its 7.8 MB back be a solution? I would try to use thetools of the UBCD disc to achieve this as parted just does not want to workon the partition. [opensuse] 3.5 GB of RAM, Rest Missing

Hi ! I have PC box with Core 2 Quad, P35 chipset and 4 GB of RAM (2+2 GB) with 32-bit OpenSuSE 10.3 and kernel-default installed. The most strangest part is that when I open BIOS everything is OK - it shows 4 GB of RAM. However, in Linux with stock "kernel-default" I see only 3.5 GB ! I suppose I do not need to install kernel-bigsmp or switch to 64-bit version of SuSE just to be able to use ALL 4 GB. Anyone have any idea(s) ? [opensuse] Gateway T-1625 laptop

One of my neighbors got fed up with vista on her new laptop, and since she had two of my PC's with suse from the 8-9.3 flavors, wants opensuse in this one, too. She is rather savy, but somehow had managed to mangle vista rather horribly, and had three "recovery" versions on board. What a MESS! (Turion 64x2 cpu, 2gig ram, Realtek wireless) So far, I have 10.3 (went with 32-bit) as dual-boot, with two of her recovery vista's, (since there were a lot of documents in each, and she did not recall what was important). I have not found any insight at the usual resource sites (ie google, linux-on-laptops, opensuse-wiki, etc.) I seem to have the (Realtek) wireless going, and the web-cam, next will be the modem. Windows says it is an Agere Systems, on the Hi-Def Audio bus. (What-tha-heck???) Has anyone had luck working this modem? [opensuse] cups and font size

Hello SuSE people How do I get cups to print in smaller/larger font sizes? I want to print it the way it is seen on the screen. Some apps like kmail you can control from within the app. Kate and Open Office you cannot so there must be a way of cups controlling it. Searched Google, went to cups web page.
