At least for the 'keyboard status' there was already a high discussion. This is probably not a 'show-stopper' for most people, but there are people with some disabilities that highly depend on it (same users that use sticky keys, so for example alt, ctrl and shift not as modifier to be pressed with a 2nd key, but as toggling keys, as you and me are used with num lock and caps lock). [opensuse] Creating a Server

Hello All I have installed OpenSuse 11.0 yesterday - one of the smoothest installation ever! I can see Windows going to be in trouble soon. You guys did a super job. Here is what I am trying to achieve: 1. I want to create a server running - mail & web=20 2. I have a Linksys Router - WRT54G - my machine is hardwired to the router 3. I have a couple of static IP addresses - which I would like to use for my server 4. I am very impressed with Cpanel Interface which I am using to host my site with a different service provider - is there anything similar to it - as I would like to host my sites and others too 5. Since I cannot be in the office all the time - I would like to have the remote admin control over the server - what ports do I need to open in the router and how can I achieve this. I will greatly appreciate your help. I know this may have been answered zillion times over - without gettinhg mad please direct me to the right thread please. [opensuse] Broken aacraid module on x86_64 + xen in opensuse 11

Hi I posted this issue earlier with title "RAID device not recognised under opensuse 11 running xen on a Sun X4150" and can now say it looks like the aacraid module does not work on a 64-bit xen kernel (opensuse 11- 2.6.25.18-0.1-default ). The module works OK with the regular kernel. Has anyone encountered similar issues? Regards lestranger In Response To: Hello - I have decided to upgrade my system from SuSE 10.3 to SuSE 11.0 and am encountering a failure during the installation process fairly early on... From the installation DVD it loads the initial kernel ok, brings up the Welcome screen which requires me to accept the license agreement, then does a system probe which I think is also succeeding. Within seconds of the system probe being completed I get a quick glimpse of a few lines of script being shown in the console window then a popup error message comes up saying "An error occurred during the installation." Not much to go on, So I ran the media check tests, the memory tests and the firmware tests. The media and memory tests passed but the firmware test gave me the following errors and warnings - (other stuff also but I think uninteresting...) 1.Fail EDD Boot disk hinting Boot device 0x80 does not support EDD 2.Fail OS/2 memory hole test The memory map has a memory hole between 15Mb and 16Mb 3.Fail HPET configuration test Failed to locate HPET base 4.Warn CPU frequency scaling test (1-2 mins) Frequency scaling not supported 5.Warn PCI Express MaxReadReq tuning MaxReadReq for device pci://00:00:1b.0 is low (128) MaxReadReq for device pci://00:01:00.0 is low (128) MaxReadReq for device pci://00:01.00.1 is low (128) Doesn't make a lot of sense to me so need an interpreter... I also looked at the kernel messages and saw nothing in the way of error or warning messages, just the usual sorts of things... SO where do I go from here? [opensuse] Rolling back kernel update

When applying the delta RPM through YaST2 > Software > Online Update is the old kernel preserved? I should just be able to copy back menu.lst.bak to menu.lst and boot into the old kernel, correct? Just to satisfy me own feeling of huge disappointment in the new KDE4 Plasma Desktop in OpenSuse 11.0 I would like some feedback just to check my own sanity. If there is a very clear outcome of this survey one way or another we might just get KDE to look at this. To maintain sanitary if you work for either Novell.DE or Suse.DE or KDE or Gnome please do not participate At first glance I love the Desktop, however functionally its a huge disappointment with a massive amount of past functionality missing or changed for the worst. Could other please let me know what functionality you find missing and what new functionality is disappointing and what are the good points For example If you do not agree with anything on the negative list please add this to the positive list If you also agree with anything on either list please duplicate the same text line The Negative list 0. The ability to have different images per desktop. 1. The options available to panels is limiting and very poor and icons are no longer treated as objects 2. The New Personal settings I find very poor and I feel the old Kcontrol Module far more logical in its layout. 3. The layout of the Personal settings interface changes depending on different applications that is installed and it appears there is NO default layout 4. The search option in Personal Settings only searches for the exact search string - there is no indexing that is in the form of variances in the entire string. 5. The total concept of Winglets is confusing, disappointing and functionally a huge mess. 6. There is no way to escalate a users authority to root in items in Personal Settings that require root access. The Positive List 0. The look and feel of the Desktop, the new Icon sets etc.. I am also interested to know if you jump to the command prompt to change/start Network services or do you use the Interface in Yast. 0. I always use the GUI Interface 1.

[opensuse] Folder Tree on Dolphin

I've been playing with KDE 4 in a VirtualBox openSUSE 11 session. I was trying to get the file manager to show my folders in a right-pane and folders/files in a left pane similar to Konqueror or Explorer. In addition, I want the left pane to follow the right pane in terms of when I'm traversing a folder tree. I can't seem to get this in Dolphin. http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/2008/20081026_dolphin_files.png I can make two windows but they're completely unaware of each other. It is sort of like Midnight Commander. In Konqeror and in Vista I have the left pane controlling the right one. [opensuse] Hard lockups new kernel

Hi . installed the new updated kernel yesterday the update version 2.6.22.19-0.1-default since then i have so far had 6 hard lockups System AMD 64 3500 2Gb Ram Nvidia FX5500@256Mb drives all look ok NO problem on the previous kernel . anyone else getting the same Pete . -- SuSE Linux 10.3-Alpha3.
