I don't use zypper, but for my apt/smart usage I do this all the time; works like a charm. [opensuse] Help for the LDP

Hello :-) As jdd, I work with and for openSUSE from the beginning :-). But now I'm also in charge of the LDP as coordinator (LDP=Linux Documentation Project). As you should and may know, the LDP is probably the older Linux documentation Web site, and the HOWTO origin. Our HOWTOs are still included in openSUSE (very good, thanks). Some month agos we noticed that our old staff was wearing, many have other business, authors are often working on other tasks and the HOWTO collection was soon to be obsolete. So we decided to make an effort to prevent this. This effort is still running and the new Web site become to be visible :-). See http://wiki.tldp.org. We try to make the life as easy as possible to authors. Now the HOWTO authors can submit they work on technical formats (docbook, linuxdoc...) but also through our wiki as wiki markup, and we are working on text/html converters All this need hands and we are really short on this respect. We have to manage the wiki, write documentations for new authors, browse the old HOWTOs and see what the authors want to do, found new authors... So we have to ask for help. If you have some time spare and you have wiki knowledge, html or script (bash and python) knowledge, if you have any Linux knowledge allowing you to review a HOWTO, If you have simply human relation knowledge to contact previous authors, please answer to me (privately not to bother this list too much). [opensuse] SMART daemon question

I have to ask, even though I know the probable answer: I am getting the following log messages on a machine running 11.0. The disk is a IDE disk. Could there be any software issues that cause this message to be given when it should not? Could I have something configured wrong? Or should I trust that a disk is becoming an ex-disk? In the referenced article on rocklinux they still wrote: Partition Layout The partition layout in the example will be the following: * Partition 1: 100 MB ext2 - will contain the pre-system and marked bootable. * Partition 2: rest of the disk, LVM Physical volume. So /boot is here also outside lvm. [opensuse] KDE 3.5 brain teaser - howto delete colors from *Custom Colors*

Listmates, Here is an off-the-wall KDE 3.5 config question. In KDE apps where you use the color dialog like control center or color chooser, etc... you have the option of adding the selected color to your palate of "*Custom Colors*" so the color is available for later use. How do you remove a color from the list of *Custom Colors* ? Where is that list kept? I've grepped around in ~/.kde/share/config and /opt/kde3/share/config without luck. [opensuse] General Graphics Slowness after kernel update to 2.6.25.18-0.2-default

Listmates, After the install of the latest kernel update for 11.0 2.6.25.18-0.2-default, I'm noticing a general sluggishness most apparent with graphics performance of my ATI card. fglrx 8.53.4 is in use an there are no errors in /var/log/Xorg.0.log. The most noticeable difference is in glxgears frame rates. Prior to the kernel update, I was getting 950 FPS without compiz enabled, and about 2600 FPS with compiz enabled. Now the frame rate is stuck at 950 FPS regardless. Nothing else has changed with my configuration other than loading the new kernel. To me it looks like the kernel handling of either glx or aiglx has changed in the 2.6.25.18-0.2 kernel that is really causing the graphics performance to suffer. I can't put my finger on anything more specific. Does anyone else have any ideas? -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. Hi all, Before I subscribe to the ffmpeg mailing list, I ask my question here... When I want to convert a .mov movie (taken with my digital camera) into a .flv flash movie, I get the following error: Audio resampler only works with 16 bits per sample, patch welcome. I use ffmpeg 0.4.9.15594svn-20081010.pm.2143-i686 from Packman with openSUSE 11.0 (KDE4 32 bit). Below is my input and the output. The input audio contains "s16". I don't know what that means, but from google I understand that ffmpeg is probably broken because of this "s16". YaST only provides this installed version of ffmpeg. Does someone know a solution for this error?
