[opensuse] Gnome Menu and Application Browser, need to add an application.

Can anyone tell me how to add applications to both the Classic style and the new Application Browser style menus? I have tried using the "Menu Layout" in the desktop preferences but the new item never gets saved back to the menu and does not appear in the Menu Layout application. I have tried as root just in case my user did not have the permissions to make the change. [opensuse] Xgl/Compiz desktop focus

Hi In suse10.2/kde/xgl/compiz/GF7300GT I have the following two problems: -I have to click each window to activate it. [opensuse] Perl question

I know very little about this problem, so I will share what I know and if anyone knows perl if you can give me a hint. Problem is this line in ddclient, debug("glo fw = $globals{'fw'}");, which causes this error when run, Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/sbin/ddclient line 1646. Since it appeared to me to be a line added for debugging, commenting it out allowed the script to work (with a few other things. Does anyone understand the error or see the problem? - apt lives :) . . . have just used 'Smart' to install APT in SuSE 10.2, BUT, the apt Sources List for SuSE 10.2 does not appear to be working at present - does someone have a Sources List for Trusted Repositories, that is currently working please ? [opensuse] Microphone blues

Hello folks! I'm trying to get a mike working on with Skype 1.3.0.53 on a fully patched 10.2 system. The echo test does not repeat my message. The hardware is OK: If I boot up Win 2K it all works correctly. The problem is evidently some oddball KDE or ALSA setting. For what it's worth, I've tried fiddling the Kmix microphone settings, with and without it set as Recording source, to no avail. Any thoughts would be appreciated including a relevant RTFM. Daniel

[opensuse] minimum installation

How do I perform a minimum installation of suse 10.2? I would like to install a very light version of suse 10.2 with KDE and only the packages I really need, but going through all the packages and unchecking the boxes of the packages already checked seems to be a bit unintelligent. However, I haven't seen any other option during installation. I would appreciate any hint. Sorry to have broken the thread. You say that in konqueror you can selectively choose for which domain you want to allow cookies or not. I guess that KMail automatically chooses konqueror when you snap on a url. But I tried all the options in konqueror (SuSE 9.3) and found nothing that would apply to cookies at all. Hi Darryl, yep, true... you can send a program to a specific desktop but in this particular case about YaST that Carlos has pointed out (it also happens to me with Skype, for example) the application takes the focus, no matter on which desktop you are working on... I also run different programs in different desktops but, by now, I only know how to send them to a desktop, not how to force them. I'll take a closer look at the "window-specific settings" you mention when I'm back at home... [opensuse] Kmail behavior

Hello, all-- I have set up my Kmail in 9.3 to look much like Eudora, and, with the exception of the font size problem, which no-one was able to fix, I am happy with it, but with one exception: when I save a particular mail, that mail persists on the screen in the background. I saved it, already, and it's on the display as an entry in the received mail, so I could go back and read it again if I wanted to. Why is it retained on screen behind the KMail screen?
