[opensuse] Mysterious Shutdown

Compiz seemed to configure fine and the compiz icon showed up in the task bar. Though I still don't know how to get the cube working. Anyway, the shutdown happened when I was away from the computer, so I don't know if a dialog was displayed. [opensuse] 10.3 openSUSE updater

I have performed fresh installs on my laptop and my desktop, preserving home, and have the following happening. On my laptop when instructing the updater to install the update it goes and does this without asking for the root password but on the desktop I am required to provide the password. Is there a setting somewhere for this I have accidentally set on the laptop? Hello, I've lost my USB hub and it ports. This problem I see with Intel DP965LT motherboard (with last firmware MQ96510J.86A.1709.2007.1010.1926) The dmesg show me constantly this: hub 5-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 2. [opensuse] rsyn and ssh pass

Hello :-) I have several folders to backup to an external server (on the web) through ssh. I use a script with 4 rsync lines of course ot asks me 4 times the pass. I don't want to have a permanent open ssh from my computer to the server (no pass phrase nor rsa key). I only would like to have to key the password once :-) is there a way to collect the four folders in a single ssh/rsync session? (they are pair of local folder->remote folder)? Or is it possible to have a script ask for a pass and use it four times? [opensuse] gnome session manager "Could not open network socket."

The Gnome session manager stops working properly and I get errors like: (gedit:17728): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager: Could not open network socket. This is a daily occurrance, sometimes multiple times per day. When this happens apps take forever to load and I haven't found a work around yet but to reboot. [opensuse] Clock and main menu error

When gnome is loaded, i get 2 errors: 1) the panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_ClockApplet" and the 2 choices are dont delete and delete. No clock is loaded in the gnome panel 2)the panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_MainMenu" and the 2 choices are dont delete and delete. No "computer" (or start) is availble. also, the "Super" key does not respond. Using sled sp1 and gnome. I was just trying to run a C# program written in VS 2005 under Wintendo. It contains the System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser assembly embedded. I got the below-listed error. From googling it, I see that there is supposed to be a .NET 2.0 version of the WebBrowser component for mono. The last thing I can find on that is from July. [opensuse] A couple things

I have 10.2 Installed on my laptop, it's a Dell Inspiron 5150, and has an Nvidia Ge Force FX GO 5200, a P4 Mobile at 3.06 GHz and 512 MBs RAM. The video memory is 32 MBs, and I used to be able from KDE or KDM shut down and suspend to disk, and it would do so, and then when I got back I would just hit the power button and it loaded back up. Well I set up some things in YAST2 for online update from the opensuse.org site to download more software and after installing the Nvidia driver, when I go to do this, it will work fine, but when I try hittin the power button to boot back up it shows everything like it did except once it shows my text log in before loading up X, it just randomly flashes colors and shows some HD activity every few minutes and then keeps on going. I usually just hold the power button down as I can't actually get to a virtial console or anything and then have to turn the machine back on as it no longer works like it did, but now I at least have 3D. ---- Next: Does anyone here make music with their machines? I downloaded LMMS from one of the repository's and after a while I had some music going good and so I exported it as a wav at 320 Kbps, then when I downloaded lame and used that, wether I use VBR at 320 Kbps or non VBR at 128, when I burn the MP3s of my music to CD, they work fine except for the fact that some songs skip a bit, and two fo them won't play at all, they are silent though it does show that a song is playing. Any ideas? If you've made music before and burned it to CD I'd really appreciate some help as I'm just starting out in using actual software to make music instead of the crap I was using before. To burn the CDs I use Nero full version. I checked each MP3 before burning and they are fine, but once burned to CD they skip some parts and some songs as I said don't have any sound. By the way on I'm 32 bit. I also have all patches installed. Hope this is the right place to ask this. I'm looking for a another mainboard for the puter. I would like a 64 bit system this time. Are there any recommendation out there for good boards. Will be going to 10.3 in the new little while.
