[opensuse] Smart failes to upgrade amarok

I've installed smart (smart-0.49.1-40.guru.suse102) and almost immediately bumped into the following situation: it indicates that there is upgrade for amarok but fails to perform upgrade: Computing transaction... [opensuse] Switching from 9.3 to 10.2

Hi: I just switched from 9.3 to 10.2. Everything seemed to go fairly well. However, when recompiling a C++ project I'm working on, I get the following error: error: converting to execution character set: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character I had not seen this error before. A google search did not help. Could somebody point me to a direction where I can find information? Thank you. -- Alfredo J. [opensuse] Asus M2N-E + suse 10.2 x86_64

Hi all, I've upgraded my old PC with a new Asus M2N-E MOBO & AM2 Athlon 64 X2 and I had problems installing suse on it. Tried to install 10.1 i386 and failed completely. Testing 10.2 x86_64: Normal installation stalls without log. Safe installation starts logging and stalls when reaching "Activating usb devices...". ACPI off installation finishes OK but USB devices doesn't work at all. When I plug in anything dmesg doesn't say anything. Also sound is not working. I imagine it could be a MOBO driver issue, isn't it? [opensuse] Problems adding PackMan as an Additional Repository

I have just installed 10.2 on a laptop, and all went well except for one small matter. I debated about posting this here, but decided to do so since there's been a lot of interest in what AMD will do with ATI in regards to Linux. Well, after reading the below referenced article, the question as to AMD's intentions is MUCH, MUCH broader, raises my blood pressure considerably, and leaves me wondering will happen after Jan. and Vista is released. I experienced some not-no-nice behaviour when using the default application on SuSE 10.2 called kwifimanager ... it shows the different networks but I still haven't managed to use it for connecting... -- if you did, please let me know! Instead, I installed http://wlassistant.sourceforge.net/ and everything worked just fine. [opensuse] Needed package(s) to rip CDs to mp3 format

What packages are required to be able to rip audio CD content to mp3 format? For example, when usng Sound Juicer, I only have the option to produce output in FLAC, WAV, or ogg.
