[opensuse] Problems adding PackMan as an Additional Repository
I have just installed 10.2 on a laptop, and all went well except for one small matter. I have tried adding the packman repository to the list of installation sources and all appears to be fine until I look in the file /var/log/zmd-messages.log where the following error is reported 03 Jan 2007 14:39:18 INFO ServiceManager Adding service: http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/10.2 03 Jan 2007 14:39:35 INFO HelperProgress Can't parse repository data: Cannot create package object This is the same message I get when going into 'Software Management' Any suggestions will be appreciated Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Actually, it works here for me, using the RPM-MD repository with smart,
both with
http://packman.inode.at/suse/10.2/
and
http://packman.mirrors.skynet.be/pub/packman/suse/10.2/

There seems to be an issue with the yast2 repository at the moment.
Better use the RPM-MD (aka "yum") repository.
I don't know whether you can force yast2 to use the one or the other,
but you should be able to do it with zypper:
zypper -t YUM http://packman.mirrors.skynet.be/pub/packman/suse/10.2/
(and remove the other one)

This is the same message I get when going into 'Software Management'
Hello Peter, I had the same message one or two times with almost all of my OpenSUSE boxes. It looks like an error altough ZMD works fine. I had Installed Xfce4 via Yast from Packman and it worked.
