[SLE] Evolution Contact / Addressbook problems

Hi, My default "Personal" address book has developed an interesting problem. Don't know when this happened. I cannot edit, delete, or add any new contacts to the address book. I get an error that says "Error adding contact. Contact Not found". I have checked the messages file.... no errors logged there. I have started in term. Nothing is logged. I have tried strace... cannot find the errors (Plus WAY too much information is returned). I thought that this was a permissions problem so I backed up the .evolution folder and did a chgrp and chown on the folder recursively. No change. I deleted the folder, restarted evolution, and noticed that it still managed to populate the address book though all the email was naturally gone. No change in behavior. I closed the program and restored the original .evolution file. Now here is where it gets even more interesting.... I am able to create a new address book. I can copy the contacts over and do as I will to them in the new book. I tried to use the "move contact" option and it populates the new target address book but does not remove the contacts from the original "personal" book. Additionally, the option to simply delete the address book is disabled. Obviously since it still contains contacts. (Though it would be nice to allow us to delete a populated address book as long as there were another layer of confirmation dialogs) Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this. Google returns only a couple of references to this issue and there did not seem to be a solution. I can continue to work, but my obsessive-compulsive nature gets to me in having the old book laying around..... I would love to know where this data is being stored so I can simply tweak the file or delete the folder in some other way, but searching for modified files in the time I was doing this was not revealing... Any thoughts? Thanks in advance...

[SLE] v10.1 keeps resetting sound volume between boots

A new install of 10.1 wants to reset the sound volume to the midrange (which I cannot hear). I reset it to maximum in Yast so that I can hear it but when I boot, the volume is at or near the midrange. On sound the only thing that is constant is the I cannot hear it. v9.2 did not do this. Anyone have this problem?

Hi, In my quest for knowledge and enlightenment I'm trying to get subversion set up; and the first thing I'd like to achieve is to get svnserve going. My setup is SUSE 10.0 on an AMD64bit dual core machine. Everything has been installed via YaST and updated via YOU. [SLE] Two Versions of MySQL

OS: 10.0 Pro In attempting a YoU update it hung attempting to update mysql. Now a rpm -q shows v4.1.13-3 and 4.1.13-3.6 both installed. Should I remove the latter, aborted version and manually reinstall from the downloaded rpm or what? This is a running server which we do not want to take down if at all possible. [SLE] SPAM: linksys admin pages now viewable with firefox Suse 10.1

Hi, When I try to view my DHCP table in my linksys router admin web pages, clicking the DHCP table with firefox does nothing. Using konquerer, it works. Is is correct to conclude firefox has broken components? Vahe

[SLE] SPAM: CUPS not accepting root password - S 10.1

Hi, I am trying to administer my printers over the web browser using cups. When I enter my root password it just keeps prompting me for my login and password. It does not say the pair are invalid, it just does not seem to accept them. I am using default settings in the conf file which are supposed to accept root logins. I am using firefox. Any idea what I should do? No further relevant data in the cups admin guide. Vahe

[SLE] cp and hardlinks

I'm trying to get cp to copy some directory structures that contain hard links (yes, yet another backup scenario). cp has two features that seem nice: (1) It can copy structures with hardlinks correctly (--preserve=links or perhaps even just -d) (2) It can copy incremented structures. That is, if you copy a structure, then you add some more to the source structure, then copy the structure again, it will handle it. But it looks like (1) and (2) don't coexist. If some new files are hardlinks to old ones, they aren't linked in the copy. Does anybody know a way to make this work? Thanks, Dave PS Before anybody says "use rsync", I was, but ... there are rather a lot of files. I had to give it 12 GB of swap space to build its list and it was taking well over 24 hours to run. [SLE] Problems connecting virtual network to real network in XEN

I have a platform running SuSE linux 10. I have the XEN kernel installed and apparently working fine. The platform has 2 NIC cards. I want to create a guest domain (using SuSE 10 also) with a specific NIC attached. I want to be able to access a real network from the guest domain. I need to know how to configure the domain 0 and guest domain to allow the above to work. I am new to XEN terminology. PC with 2 NICs eth0 and eth1 SuSE 10 domain 0 installed SuSE 10 guest 1 installed ping network from domain 0 via ethx works ping network from guest 1 via ethx "network not reachable" Thanks for any help. [SLE] SuSE 10.1: Source RPMs not on boxed DVD?

Am I right in saying that the source RPMs are not present on the boxed DVD (or even in the boxed set at all)? My "software management" does not list any!
