OS: 10.0 Pro In attempting a YoU update it hung attempting to update mysql. Now a rpm -q shows v4.1.13-3 and 4.1.13-3.6 both installed. Should I remove the latter, aborted version and manually reinstall from the downloaded rpm or what? This is a running server which we do not want to take down if at all possible. This is confusing, your info is not complete (IMO). ;) But it might be possible to install two packages with 'rpm -ihv' - I do that with the kernel (that works because *different* files are installed). Hmm, better show us the output of: rpm -qa | grep mysql first.

ack. So better make a backup first! But if you have mysql-4.1.13-3 /and/ mysql-4.1.13-3.6 installed, you probably have to uninstall them both, and then re-install the preferred version. Yup, downtime. If each mysql package installs files with the same name, then the package that was installed last probably would have overwritten the files that already were there. Perhaps you need to use the --nodeps and/or --force options if rpm refuses to remove the last mysql package. Better make a backup first! Hmm, did I repeat myself? ;P Cheers, Leen -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
