People, Sorry for posting this thing here, but can someone send me by email pcre-devel-6.2-2.i586.rpm package, which comes with the SuSE 10.0 DVD, I have some problems copying it from DVD. I also can't find kdelibs3-devel package on my DVD, since YaST shows that it must be there... I hardly ask for it, but if you can also divide that kdelibs3-devel into about 8 parts (each one about 600Kb, my mail system doesn't allow me to get emails more than 1Mb) and send me it in *.rar's in separate letters (8 in this case), that would be really invaluable assistance for me now. Due to some reasons, I can't download it from the Internet, and I urgently need to install Kdevelop now. Setting a gtk theme globally

Hi list, We are using a citrix like solution to distribute our application. Many users are logged on to our servers, but no kde or gnome is actually started. Our application is a gtk application (wxPython), and works nicely with a ~/.gtkrc theme. I want to set a theme globally for all users. How can I do that? Cheers, Dick Kniep

Stop showing Kmix

Is there anyway to stop the Kmix panel from opening, when logging into SUSE 10? I don't like having to close it every time I log in. If I need it, I know where to find it. I just want the mixer to start up, without the panel appearing. tnx jk

rsync syntax help

I am looking into using rsync to make a copy of my existing home directory(1.6Gb) and storing an exact copy on another local drive. I have had a look at the man pages for rsync and notice that there are tons of options. I have noted the options I would like below and ask for some assistance in compiling the correct syntax of the coammand. I will be running the cmd as root from a root terminal(Alt-F2) and the user in question will not be logged on at the same time. The switches I have identified are: -v - Verbose @ I'd like to know what is happening -c - always checksum # This makes sure the file on SRC is the same as DEST -r - recurse into directories # All the files in the subdirectories -l - copy symlinks as symlinks # Should there be any if I haven't created any, to my knowledge -A - preserve ACLs (implies -p) [local option] #preserve permissions -o - preserve owner -g - preserve group -t - preserve times #preserve the time the file was last edited --stats - give some file transfer stats #Stats on what happened -a - archive mode, equivalent to -rlptgoD The command so far: #rsync -vcrlAogt -stats /home/hylton /media/backup/ I would like the entire contents of /home/hylton copied to a hylton directory on /media/backup. Would this cmd achieve this? Should I swop some options out and rater use -a? adding a drive

After my fiasco with filling my drive, due to a late night computing error, I picked up a 300gb drive. I formated it, named it /extra and gave myself permission to it. But I was wondering, if I was not the only user on this system, if I had made it's mount point under /home (like /home/extra) what would I need to set the permissions to for everyone to use it under their home directory? Digital audio on linux

I'm sure, in previous SUSE versions, apps like Rosegarden were included, but this doesn't seem to be the case any more. I'm running 10.0 OSS - fair enough, lots of stuff is missing from this. However, checking out the package listing for Novell's release version shows Rosegarden absent (although Jack and JAMin are included). Can anyone tell me the best way to get audio sampling and mixing working under SUSE 10.0? I'm wanting to start recording some of my music. It'll be through a USB-connected M-Audio Black Box - this ought to be supported because it's "class compliant" but can anyone confirm? And what's the best way to get Rosegarden or other similar stuff (I'm also rather interested in Ardour, the open-source DAW) working? I was also wondering whether it might be easier to use Studio-To-Go, which is a CD-based linux distro aimed specifically at being a home studio, with Ardour, Rosegarden et al. all included and set up. Has anyone any experience of this? TiA! Beta 9 X86_64 install source problem

Today I downloaded the delta ISOs created the ISOs for Beta9 and verified the MD5SUMS. After several abortive attempts to install via NFS and SMB I installed from the CDs and this seemed to work. However If I delete add the install source either CD, NFS or SMB using yast I get the following error (SHA1 sums omitted).
