Yast Online update ignoring protected lock on wine-0.9.8-0.1

I have installed the winehq version of the wine rpms, version wine-0.9.8-0.1, and set it to be protected (little padlock icon). But Yast Online Update constantly tells me that it has a newer version and insists it should install wine-20050725-3.2, and has removed the lock icon from wine-0.9.8-0.1. I have other packages that are protected and these seem to be correctly ignored by Online Update. Cosmo

hello all it seems i can no longer send attachments? i get a content filter error the why this happened i am curious about but mainly how do i fix it? i have done some searching on google gotten many replies but none that seem to fit. here is the message i get now... this worked fine for me yesterday and all along since my initial install of 10.0 so its a new development? Direction needed

A friend of mine has a computer loaded with M$ Windows. She would like to try Linux but does not know how much room to make on the disk by partitioning (and whether SuSE will do the job for her or whether she should use Partition Magic). I've installed small drives using nylon cable ties when there wasn't a good ready-made location with screw-holes and such), and encountered no problems... but that's me... Once she has it in place, she can install whatever she likes on the second drive without any need to disturb a working Windows setup. All that changes is what's in the boot sector of the primary drive. If your friend later decides that she doesn't like Linux, she just reformats that second disk and has a ton(ne) of extra room for her Windows stuff. The boot-loader chain can be adjusted to put Windows first, with no delay, so it's basically unnoticable. I have had hard drives go bad before, and if both OS's are on one drive, you lose everything. rt2570.ko module

I have two systems with a recent SUSE 10 kernel installed. One has the default kernel (kernel-default-2.6.13-15.8) and the other has the SMP variant (kernel-smp-2.6.13-15.8). It seems that the default kernel RPM contains the rt2540.ko (USB wireless network device) driver, but the smp variant does not. Is this on purpose? I think the original smp kernel RPM also did not have this driver. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems AB

Do you buy the boxed set this time around?

When 10.0 came out, there was much discussion about the fact that you no longer got the Admin manual, just a, more or less, SuSE Linux for Dummies User Guide (okay, maybe it's a little better than that (or not as good?)). Many people were saying they should have just downloaded the software and not bought the retail version, since many of them were buying the retail version, at least in part, because of the nice handy Admin manual that came with it (though the matter was then raised as to how someone should be paying something to Novell to support the efforts being made by to improve the product). I guess this whole issue will be front and center again with the upcoming release. Buy the boxed set, or download, that is the question. Then again, I don't recall whether the downloads were actually a "legitimate" way of obtaining the product or not, though it would seem that Novell would not be in the business of giving away something they were simultaneously selling(?). DLL problem

hi, There is a program which might run under Linux and incorporates C, C++ routins using their DLL. I don't know much about this. How to make DLL in Linux? If it is not posible, how to do it in Windows? Thanks much Oliver

But I refuse to just play with one distro. Distro's can disappear, be neglected, go off in a direction I chose not to, eliminate one program that I like from them, for another, etc. I choose to not be distrocentric a long time ago.
