Hello everybody, during the last days some code was removed from the openAFS package that is licensed under APSL. Could someone please explain what you consider wrong with APSL that requires removal of the code? Yast error with kernel

i'm running 10.0 with a custom kernel 2.6.16.2. when i did a kernel update with yast, the system downloaded and applice several kernels older than 2.6.16 why is this? its not right is it for yast to put an older file than i had. No SATA HD detected when installing SuSE 10.1 beta 9 x86_64

Hi list, I tried to install SuSE 10.1 beta 9 x86_64. When probing the system (as usual), the installation system didn't detect my SATA Harddisk. Is this a common problem for beta release? Is there any solution? Does SuSE 10 x86_64 work fine with SATA? FYI, I use ASUS P5P800-MX motherboard. Thanks, Adinda P

This actually turned out to be remarkably silly (in the sense that I should have figured it out much more quickly). The clock on the client had skewed outside of the 300-second differential window that Kerberos allows. Doing "net time /set" on the client fixed the issue. Sigh. Silly windows.

Hey, all -- I've got a SUSE 10.0 fileserver, sharing directories to Windows clients using Samba. Samba version is 3.0.21c, from the projects/samba/ directory on the mirrors. The server is joined to an Active Directory domain for authentication. Kerberos is set up and working, etc etc. For, give or take, 80 of my 82 clients, there's no problem at all accessing the shares. For those other two, when they try to connect to "\\servername", they're presented with a dialog box that asks for a username/password. The message "Failed to verify incoming ticket!" appears in the Samba logs. If they connect to "\\192.168.0.1" (that is, the server IP address), it works fine. Has anyone experienced this before, and have any tips/tricks that might help in debugging the problem? Everything I've found on the web deals with the case where this happens to _all_ clients.... RHEL : CentOS :: SLEx : ?

Please do not berate me for the following question -- I am only curious: Just like there exists CentOS as a freely available distribution of RHEL I would like to know whether anyone has done a freely available distribution of SLES or SLED. I have some people to convert to Linux, but since the SUSE Linux 10 distribution is bleeding-edge and not completely stable, I can't give them that (they are not computer-savvy to handle crashes etc) so I would like to give them a stabilized version. Problems using spellchecking with KBabel

(otherwise, report it] As far as I know, my settings are correct, but I might be wrong. - - When checking a word like "codificación" it complains that it doesn't find "codificaci" - ie, it stops at the tilde ('). ¡Absurd! This makes the spellchecking completely unusable, and spellchecking is a must have in a translation app. That happens with the setting put to "international ispell". If I change to "aspell", then it uses the English dictionary (it says "unknown Spanish"). Even worse that Ispell. - If I press "ignore", for example, when KBabel is used from a Gnome desktop, the next dialog pops half out of the screen, to the left. It is ok from inside KDE, but I'm oftener in Gnome. Where do all the files go?

I am trying opensuse 10.1 (beta 9) for the first time. Traditionally, I partition my drive into /,/usr,/opt and /home. So I did that as usual. The installer then came back and reported that I had insufficient space for the packages (KDE desktop selected). It also indicated that 1.9Gb was being installed and that the 1.9Gb was being installed to the / partition. Since I have separate partitions for /usr and /opt, I was wondering where are all the files being put this time around. Eddie

audio sync tools

Hi, Googling has informed me that I can correct out of sync audio with avisync. What packages would people recommend to actually work out how many frames the sound is out by? Most of what I have found enable me to advance the video frame by frame but that obviously doesnt help. TIA F
