I'm on a bunch of high-volume lists, and my ISP does have an upper limit for mailboxes kept on his servers. I want my mail to be held on a computer owned by me. I want to be able to access it from any computer in the house. Eventually, I want to be able to access it from other locations, without any risk of downloading it to somebody else's computer and accidentally erasing the originals from my ISP before they are safely brought to my home computer. My wife should have the same for her mail. I might have webbish mail accounts in addition to the regular e-mail provided by my ISP. Also... Other people do it (using fetchmail, procmail, postfix, imap) with their eyes closed, so I want to do it too. It's the Linux-y thing to do. :-) Are other reasons necessary? Error since KDE upgrade.

One "nasty" little treat I rec'd with the upgrade is a messed up addressbook in KMail! If you create new mail, then use the "Select" button, NOT all of your entries will be shown. Fred -- Paid purchaser of ALL SuSE Linux releases since 6.x

Hello :-) I need some clarifications about the expected wiki content. What king of content do we want to see in the wiki. the "documentation page" say: "The documentation describes the installation, configuration, and use of all the packages provided in SUSE Linux as well as additional packages that are available at openSUSE.org" but does this restrict the wiki to man pages or HOWTO's strictly bounded to packages or can we host more generic documentation. I think, for example, at a "howto build a server", that is a hole course (in french...), based on suse 9.0 now and that I will adapt to opensuse. I have also a "howto deal with his photo collection" that use mostly SUSE Linux, but not only (even speaks of windows, but quite shortly) In short, do we want to host "bussiness" oriented documentation? If yes, we need a new kind of documentation (could be named "bussiness documentation"). [opensuse] Snort and Etherape

Hi all Using suse 10.0 retail version. Using Novell OO 2.0 version. I had these files on previous Suse versions I was using installed from the OOo. site Always contained up-to-date version info. Can someone please tell me where novell has put them? or their equivilants? thanks Tom

Printer Problems

Hi I am an 81 year old newbie with suse-linux. I have 2 machines (I collect other peoples discards). On machine-1 I am running Mandriva 2006. On machine-2 I am trying out Suse 10.0. My printers are hooked up to machine-1. I am trying to print from machine-2 but I am completely confused with the setup in YAST. No matter what combination I try I cannot print from machine-2. Can some kind soul give me some hints as to where I can get tutorials about setting up remote printing. Bear in mind that I have no formal training in computers so I need something that is detailed. Thanks. Bill

broadcom ethernet

Hi-- Asus mobo has Boadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet built in. It does not work with 10.0 off the cd. Does anybody know where I can find a driver for it, and then, what do I have to do to install it? (I'm pretty sure it worked with 9.1 or 9.2, whichever I had last.) top-like viewer for connections

Hello list! Does anyone know of something to use to view active web/ftp/ssh connections? I would want something akin to top running in shell showing user (or ip), number of connections and maybe what file the user is downloading. Basic statistics. I looked at ntop, but as it seems to me its web based.
