I would like to set up apache http server only for serving
localhost requests. I installed the apache and other required
packages through yast/network services/HTTP server.
When it turned to the server configuration (HTTP server wizard)
I could not pass the first step as there was not anything in the
"Listen to Interfaces" window. It was completely empty.
Now I am stucked. I think the localhost interface should be
there at least. What should I do?

I was wondering if someone can point me in the direct of a simple script
that I can use to make a nightly DVD backup of our data.
Currently our data is about 4gb and fits onto one dvd.
I have been manually backing up the data to another linux box but I
would also like to make a nightly DVD-RW that rewrites the DVD which we
can then store. We plan to store about 7 days worth of data and will
reuse the DVDs.
The data is stored in the /data directory of our OpenSuSE server.
I have created a /backup directory and I plan to implement nightly
tarballs of the data.
If I have one file like: /backup/2/data.tar.gz - what command should I
use to copy it to the DVD drive?
Thanks in advance and regards from Denmark,

A few months ago, I tried to set up mail via yast. (network services ->
mta.) I got things wrong because I stopped getting mail other than
local mail and all mail was returned to senders with message something
like localhost could not accept mail, no such address. So using yast
again, I selected no connection and this solved the problem. Looking
through my filesystem today, I noticed that in fetchmailrc, it still
had my old email address (which I can still get emails from). So I
changed the entry to my new email address. Since then I've been getting
fetchmail messages in my in box saying that Fetchmail could not get
mail from "pecb(a)pop3.apm-internet.net" (which I have never had or
used). I've grepped through my file system and I found a few references
to my old email address but cannot find any reference to the above
address. How did that get into fetchmail and other than uninstalling
fetchmail, how do I cure this?
I'm considering switching to GNOME; what's the equivalent of sumf (SCPM
front-end) for GNOME? I didn't see sumf at all in 10.1 beta 5, is
there something different?

Hi to everyone,
after an upgrade or two using the smart pm and the supplementary Gnome
repository [SUSE 10.0 here] i can't get keyboard shortcut to work
propery anymore. I've also tried the tool in the gnome control panel,
changed the key-combo (still doesn't work) and go back to the default
one, but I had no luck :-(
Also, clicking on the icons of software needing the insertion of the
root password (ie YaST) results in the coming up of the window
requesting the password, then a silent fail on launching the application
On KDE, instead, all it's working charmfully ....
Any idea ?

after a (working) reinstallation and a full update, my SUSE 10.0 stops at

When I kill the preload process everything works fine.
I've tried to run preload manually with --help and without, but it doesn't say
anything and I have to do Ctrl+C to get out again. Maybe this is "normal", I
My System is up-to-date and a reinstallation of preload didn't bring any
change. I'm using kernel 2.6.13-15.8-default (also tried 2.6.15-jad2).
Nothing in syslog.
Any ideas about this strange behaviour?
I checked the archive and found ntop for preparing stats on the net-
work traffic I have e.g. on my eth0.
I liked the program itself, but I would rather need simpler and not so
comprehensive stats; preferably would like to see a monthly stat with
all of the traffic summary with not so much details.
Is there a software like that existing?
I also tried bandwidthd, but in the case of temporal existence of a
particular interface that's quite tricky to load everytime and let it
reload the previous stats from logfiles...
Does anyone know of the status of resizing XFS file systems? Last I
knew, XFS could be grown but not shrunk. Is this still the case?
I am interested mostly in this for resizing of LVM volumes.
