[opensuse] KDE 3.5 and program for handicap

Hi, I have a couple about 10.1, will it have KDE 3.5? Do you know if it will have anything for people with handicaps, like Ksayit that you can tie to programs so that it can read, for example like chat? I am wondering because I been playing a round with 10.0 and I want to get 10.1 if it has KDE 3.5, I heard that it has some program that will read text, I am looking for something like my mac chat program Audim which use growl, I am dyslexlic and I need this for work so that when clients are IM it can read the text to me so I can take care of theor request quicker. The name of the package changes between your smart update and upgrade. Try again and smart update. Horde and its apps in SL 10.1

Hello, maybe I'm wrong but I cannot see any Horde applications (IMP, Turba...) on SL 10.0 CDs. I can see only Horde 3.0.5-4. What's about SL 10.1? Is there any plan to include those applications? Thanks, Soben

Beta 5 Install source setting

I know there are big issues around the packagemanger however I was wondering if anyone had a way around getting either "install into directory" or "Xen install" working in both cases it doesn't see the network install source that I used to install the machine from. I've just installed beta5 onto my Athlon 64 server and I would like to test Xen 3.0 on 64 bit hardware. I have SuSE 10.0 running fine with Xen 3.0 on Intel but on an Athlon 64 it crashes the whole system when you start a VM. Any ideas ? OSS 10.0 Improper console display when running X on nividia FX5500

Good news is solved the dual display problem, not sure how though (matrox millenium ISA, Nvidia fx5500). Went into x86config and config file and fiddled and something worked... However, with the FX5500, if I ctrl-alt-f1,f2 etc. into a console I get a mashed up screen of magenta and cyan and black rectangles... not too useful. Persists after closing down x-windows (I boot into level 3, screens are OK until run x-windows). This is a real nuisance (I like going into a console for various admin things). Anyone else seen this? Any idea why it occurs? Any thoughts on a cure? Due to totally cocking-up the suse otherwise (see newbie warning below...) I did a reinstall and the problem has manifested itself again. Twice could be coincidence, but then again it could be enemy action. I don't want to reinstall again! Warning - my technical level of knowledge in linux is still very low >;) VERY! Darn, gotta go and get 3 yr old from playgroup! Await helpful messages for tonight when got kids to bed! They'll be pleased with the snow forcast for Britain tomorrow. Not sure we will - half an inch of snow and rail and road communications cease and we get cut off in the Cotswold Hills... not like when I was a lad in Canada living in the Erie snowbelt! Malcolm

Hello! I have read announcements and basic descriptions of the build service, smart and of a new concept of kernel modules, so maybe my idea is already in those new concepts. Apart from the discussion around GPL or binary, I thought it might be very nice for the user, if there was an easy way to get WLAN working. There is currently yet another discussion about binary on the kernel-mailinglist due to intel's announcement of their new chipset's driver, so it seems that it becomes more and more difficult for a normal user to get its existing hardware to work. Further there is no site on opensuse, that has detailed, complete and reliable data on which chipsets will be natively supported in 10.1 and newer. One way or another, justified or not, the user will blame SuSE, if the hardware cannot be made working easily. So I want to ask, whether it would be feasible to have a "WLAN-repository", which can be used by a user without searching the web for the chipset used by one's card or getting any hints from somebody that is more familiar with that matter. Of course one should not be forced to install the driver again after each Kernel-update or have to compile anything. The only thing needed should be a hint during installation that the WLAN-card is not supported because of the drivers not being open source and that one should start "install-wlan-driver" after the installation has finished. That tool would give access to the WLAN-repository, which is fed as packman is. Since there are only a handlful chipsets, it should be possible to provide drivers for each, including a list of wlan-cards that use them. The user could either search for a chipset, or the name of the wlan-card and simply install the driver. For those cards that use a firmware, it wold be very helpful to have a script bundled with the driver that is executed by the tool and installs and renames the files needed, as YOU currently does, or maybe by searching the manufacturer's driver-cd. Please do not make this a discussion about whether GPLed-drivers would be the solution, since that will not happen, at least not until 10.1. Further there seem to be some legal issues that force companies to have at least some part of their drivers in binary, which might make not sense, yet companies like Intel simply have to comply the law, no matter whether it makes sense or not. http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.network/32620 Sven

SUSE 9.2 & OpenOffice 2.0.1 RPM

Has anyone here had success with installing openoffice 2.0.1 on SUSE 9.2? I am trying but have an unresolved dependency of: libpython2.4so.1.0. A search for a package that provides libpython2.4so.1.0 is turning up nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
