[opensuse] Externel USB scsi Disk speed Trouble

Hi , i am running a suse_10.1 x86 on /dev/hda7 internel disk of laptop . apart i have one externel "USb interfaced" SCSI disk 40.gb ,during any READ/Write operation from hda7 to /dev/sdx the speed is very slow of operations. even i increased the dmi values for the scsi disk and put it into to boot.local file but in vain . How i can increase the speed ot my externel scsi disk . SPAM: Taskbar "vanish" confirmed.

I just rec'd a call from someone who was working in OO Writer and unexpecedly, his taskbar vanished. I had him remove the kickerrc file in /home/xx/.kde/share/config dir. Then "kill" KDE and login again. This works to fix the problem, but for sure, there's something strange happening to that file. Fred -- MickySoft, the ultimate corporate parasite.

[opensuse] SPAM: RAID + LVM + GRUB

greetings I as many would like to see that grub would be able to boot directly single LVM partitions that ofcourse are RAIDed with mdadm. I googled arround and appearently that is possible by patching GRUB, is this true, can this be done? if so when will it be added to the OpenSuSE distro, will it be released in the upcomming 10.2version? -- Regards -RP- ___________________________ If computers were made in heaven, would they be perfect? ___________________________

[opensuse] SPAM: pppd persist option not working

Hi, as the title says. I added PPPD_OPTIONS='persist' to /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-dsl0, and pppd is started with the 'persist' option (check `ps afx`), but still, it, or smpppd, does not reconnect immediately. This bug has been present in the past, and now it's back again? How to mirror an ftp repository

Hello, I'd like to have a local copy of a Suse 9.3 install repository that matches an ftp mirror. Tried using 'wget -r ftp://ftp.ale.org/pub/suse/i386/9.3/', but I am not getting the all the files and directories. What is the best way to accomplish this? Thank you, James

[opensuse] updating .depend.start file

Hi: I have a question about the behaviour of the .depend.start file in /etc/init.d. When I put entries into this file for daemons that I want to be started in a specific order via the parallel startproc facilities (RUN_PARALLEL=yes in /etc/sysconfig/boot), I find that these new entries that I add are being clobbered after running yast2 runlevel and save settings.
