Opensuse 10.1 NFS installs...

Hello, is their a known problem with remote NFS installs on Opensuse 10.1? I am trying to install 10.1 as I have installed 10.0, 9.3, etc.... by mounting an NFS partition that contains the DVD contents. Works great in 10.0, but in 10.1 I get a: "No catalog found at 'nfs://165.91....'. The thing is, the system remotely boots after mounting the NFS partition, I only get the error on the "Installation Settings" page. Sincerely, - Henrik

[opensuse] Different resolutions for local LCD and external VGA port

Hi! I have a Dell Latitude 120L, with 14" wide screen LCD, configured for 1280x800x32 on an Intel 915GM (i810 driver). If I connect an external 17" standard LCD to the external VGA port, the monitor says that this mode is not supported. Using SAX, I tried setting up a different resolution (1024x768) for it as it was in multi-monitor mode, but it still doesn't work at all. thunderbird errors after update

I updated my system with YOU yesterday and one of the things that was update was Thunderbird. Now when I try to use Edit/Find/Search Messages, it says: XML Parsing Error: syntax error Location: chrome://messenger/content/SearchDialog.xul Line Number 1, Column 1: urce = RDF.GetResource(uri); ^ Aargh! Has anybody seen this? Does anybody know how to fix it? I'd like to tell you what version it is but when I click on Help/About, it says: XML Parsing Error: not well-formed Location: chrome://messenger/content/aboutDialog.xul Line Number 2, Column 8: </row> -------^ I hate to think what else is broken. YaST says I have version 1.5.0.7-0.1-i586 installed and that 1.0-5-i586 is available. Is there any way to go back to the version I had yesterday? Oh, I'm on SUSE 9.3. Thanks and regards, Dave

[opensuse] eject a DVD without Gnome/KDE

Hi, we are running SuSE 10.1 with a variety of window managers like ctwm, fvwm2, enlightment etc. and are using ivman (now working :-)) for automounting CDs/DVDs. How are users supposed to eject a DVD after it has been mounted? After ivman has mounted a DVD, the eject button on the drive doesn't react and the eject command refuses to work. Even if we add users to group audio, so that they can execute eject, it fails with galois [8:55] fst 1010) eject /media/CDROM/ umount: /dev/hdc is not in the fstab (and you are not root) eject: unmount of `/dev/hdc' failed So how do we get the DVD out of the drive when mounting with ivman? Connecting a tremial program to an external rs323 port

I would like to connect a couple of on premises computers to a computer running Suse 9.3 using rs232 ports, running from 1200 to 19200 baud. sound not working for non-root users

Hi all, I have a very funny sound problem. If I log in as root I have no problems with sound, If I log in as any other user I can not hear mp3 files, audio CD's or video DVD's. It was working fine until I updated something or installed a new package. Can not trace back to the moment it started. I am using Suse 10 rada@pavilion:~> uname -r 2.6.13-15.12-default rada@pavilion:~> rpm -qa alsa* alsamixergui-0.9.0rc1-546 alsa-firmware-1.0.13-0.pm.0 alsa-tools-gui-1.0.13-0.pm.0 alsa-devel-1.0.9-23 alsa-tools-1.0.13-0.pm.0 alsa-1.0.13-0.pm.0 If I log into root's deskotp, sound works without a problem. If I log in to any other users desktop there is no sound. If I log into a non root users' desktop and then in a console log in as root and try to play a sound file I get no sound. I am asking for help since I have no clue as to how to approach the problem. I really don't even know how to google for this one, I've tried without success. I don't have gnome desktop installed, but in Icewm and FVWM desktops there is also no sound output, so I do not thik it is a function of a kde problem itself. but this is a list of KDE packages related to sound that I am using Any ideas on how to proceed to fix it?
