Reiserfs corrupting on IDE HD with 9.3 (and not 9.2)

Hi All, I've got a Reiserfs file system corruption problem happening here with 9.3 :-( I know it's related to 9.3 since 9.2 doesn't skip a beat on this hardware. To make sure, I reinstalled 9.2 and ran it again for three days without a symptom, However, after installing 9.3 (this is my 3rd time) within an hour of running YOU I start noticing little 'ticks' in the file system like this one I just found in /usr/bin: drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 77872 2005-08-03 20:58 ./ drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 344 2005-08-03 17:08 ../ -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 24916 2005-03-19 15:28 [* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 8818 2005-03-22 06:12 3Ddiag* <snip> If it follows the same pattern this time around, the system won't be bootable in another hour or two and I'll need to reinstall 9.3 again. printer loss [susepro9.1]-mostly solved-samba the problem?

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions - the immediate problem is solved. I feel that a monstrous weight has been lifted. I tried the suggestions and the printer connection is back - wonderful!!!!! what a relief! I stopped the firewall and samba so it is one of them, or both which is causing the problem? I would vote for samba3 as the culprit because the printer loss occurred on both machines on a 2 machine samba lan. I just restarted the firewall without the extra ports including 631, that I had designated - the printer still worked - so samba it must be! Please don´t go away - I would very much appreciate your help/insight to help me locate and correct the problem as the lan is important. I had used the suse-yast-samba to build samba with both machines as both client and server. They offered their printer to each other as well as files. Please let me know if you have had a problem with samba3 interfering with the printer & printer definition and how you solved it. The one machine which was upgraded to kde3.4 has a fully functional printer - the other still at kde3.3 cannot save the printer definition as cupsd dies! - so Iĺl upgrade it to kde3.4 which seems to cure that problem. I will try to bring samba3 back into the picture. I was thinking that it may not be advisable to do so through the suse-yast function - what do you think? Download ksynaptics from http://packman.links2linux.org/?action=503 If you're using KDE, this applet is available from the Peripherals section in YaST (I believe). If you're using Gnome you'll need to open a terminal window and run kcmshell /opt/kde3/bin/ksynaptics This has many more options than sax for configuring touchpads and may help you with your needs. making a CD catalog

Dear SuSE users: I would like to make a catalog of my CD collection. This catalog should include the CD title, artist, record company, catalog number etc, possibly with track titles an lenghts. Tellico (formerly bookcase) looks a really neat catalog program to create catalogs of books, music etc. However one need to add the entries into tellico's database by hand. My question is if there is a program that can get the cddb or freedb entries and store them in a way that can be used to import them in tellico or ANY OTHER catalog software. Or is there a program that can collect the data from the freedb or cddb and after that the database is searchable and visible locally without using the CD itself? Here is what I did and what I got: afore@linux:~> ssh-keygen -t dsa Generating public/private dsa key pair. Enter file in which to save the key (/home/afore/.ssh/id_dsa): Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase): Enter same passphrase again: Your identification has been saved in /home/afore/.ssh/id_dsa. Your public key has been saved in /home/afore/.ssh/id_dsa.pub. copied the id_dsa.pub from local machine to server /afore/.ssh/authroized_keys. Still get the same when I try to logon to the server with NX on the clinet. SLP 9.3, Sony Laptop, Bluetooth No Worky

I have installed and configured BlueZ everything 9 ways to Sunday, and when I hit keys and move/click the Micro$soft Keyboard ELite and Mico$soft Intellimouse for Blueteeth I can see the Bluetooth icon in the sys tray light up, but nothing of the input comes to the screen. I do get an error that LMP response timeout from the Bluetooth monitor however. I got this email today from SuSE Free tech support b/c I'm a new registered customer; "Hint: Make sure that you have got the bluez stack installed on your system. Go into yast --> hardware --> bluetooth. Make sure that you have set the pairing password to 0000 and make sure you select the option: Use Local Pin for incoming connections. . Go to advanced daemon configuration and make sure that the following are enabled: HID HID2HCI HCI If you keyboard and mouse as a default bluetooth password then try to use that as the pairing password. Unfortunately this issue is not supported under the free installation support, as we do not support bluetooth. You can also join the suse mailing list as many issues are raised and solved there. http://www.suse.com/en/private/support/online_help/mailinglists/" I have looked into this and all, and it's not 100% straight forward and I do do waht it says, but I'm still stuck with no M$ KB and Mouse, and have to fat finger this latop keyboard and touch pad mouse and suffer great risk to crippeling painful disfigurment to my hands and feet, yes, feet even. Does anyone have some sound advise on what I need to do, even if it is to start from scratch, on how to get the larger input devices operational? It the only thing that makes SLP 9.3 way better than WinXP (well, anything is better the Win.x anything... but...) Many over thankful words and gestures headed your way. Hi all, I have a 9.3 installation on a Toshiba Sattelite laptop, and the touchpad is really twichy. The touchpad is configured so that it recognizes "tap" gestures, and also some kind of "tap and drag" or maybe a simulated scroll-wheel. These are a real pain in the whatnot, as they cause unwanted clicks while I'm just moving the pointer across the screen, and sometimes cause some real high-jinks when it goes into the undetermined draggy/scrolly mode.
