Hi all, I'm having some troubles with the automounting of my cdrom. Here's the story : I've installed without any problem suse 9.3 from the CDs. But now i can not access any CD. Here is my fstab : /dev/sda1 / ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/sda2 /home ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 2 /dev/sda3 /opt ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 2 /dev/sda4 swap swap pri=42 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0 sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0 /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom subfs noauto,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy subfs noauto,fs=floppyfss,procuid,nodev,nosuid,sync 0 0 which seems ok, but here is the result of mount : dev/sda1 on / type ext3 (rw,acl,user_xattr) proc on /proc type proc (rw) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw) tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw) devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,mode=0620,gid=5) /dev/sda2 on /home type ext3 (rw,acl,user_xattr) /dev/sda3 on /opt type ext3 (rw,acl,user_xattr) usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw) /dev/fd0 on /media/floppy type subfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,sync,fs=floppyfss,procuid) even when I have inserted a CD. But then, if I type : /bin/mount -t subfs -o fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,user,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 /dev/sr0 "/media/cdrom" as root, it mounts the present CD and eveything works fine (until I change of CD ...) It seems that subfs is having troubles since I found on dmesg this line : subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) Any idea on how to fix that ? printer loss [susepro 9.1]

Hi, I still have not been able to resolve the print problem I have been having. I believe it is probably a combination of the susepro 9.1 and samba 3.0.9-2.6-suse interactions as the two systems on the lan have had the same problem of losing their printer and then not being able to regenerate them. I tried to access cups via //localhost:631/ with no success. I have tried a number of approaches: upgraded kde to v3.4; taken the unit out of the lan but nothing works so I am hoping somebody out there will have suggestion[s] which will solve the problem. Asterisk Management Portal

I'm just wondering if any one has successfully installed the Asterisk Management Portal on SuSE 9.3? I'm struggling with the configuration of Apache, PHP and mysql for it. Video-playback question

I'm hoping someone can point out what I've not done in getting avi,wmv playback working. This is a stock install of Suse 9.3 w/mediapacks 1 & 2 installed. I've not done any other install-tweaking since I need this system to be stable for work. When I try to play wmv & avi files I get the error: "No plugin to handle this resource" and "xine couldn't find demux for *myfile*.wmv". I have installed the win32 codec package of course and *mpg files play fine. I had this going under 9.0 but since I hadn't upgraded until now I've forgotten what it was that needs to be done to play these files. The 'demux' reference has me particularly stumped since I checked the install requirements and everything seemed to be covered. any help-advice is most welcome. Tim

Dear All, Could someone please tell and help me to solve this problem? Actually I have got two hard-disks of where suse is installed on master and windows on slave. It was previously the opposite, I mean the windows on master and suse on slave, but after I reconferred the setting in shifting the jumper in order to have suse on master and windows on slave. After this operation I had several problems concerning the mdr and grub configuration, and than I decided to reinstall everything and now I still get the problem with starting. Cyrus mailbox restore

Hi all, I had to reload my notebook, and now I'm trying to restore my mail. I had cyrus-imap running before. I made a tarball of the whole /var/spool/imap directory, and restored that after reloading. Then I logged into cyradm as user cyrus and ran: reconstruct user.hansdp It didn't change much, cyrus would still only see my inbox, none of the subfolders. I'm obviously doing this wrongly. What is the correct way to restore a cyrus mailbox? Thanks Hans

SCPM problems

Twice in one week I have somehow trashed SCPM (I still have no idea how), most recently today after re-installing 9.3 last night. Everything on my laptop worked after finishing the install. I updated all my packages, rebooted a couple of times---everything worked. Then I turned on SCPM and added profile statements to GRUB, turned off the laptop, and headed to work. Upon booting the laptop, my network card (in all profiles) will pass traffic for 5 seconds to 60 seconds, then traffic stops. I can restart networking and traffic will again pass through the NIC, at least for a while. When I had problems a couple of days ago, I tried to rebuild the database, which only made things worse, as several profiles were removed. I assume there was a problem with the database. The problem remains if I turn off SCPM, since the active profile (which has problems) becomes the default. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this problem with the NIC? Is there anyway to fix it without doing another re-install this week? Thanks. Sargon
