Outgoing transmission speed unexpected low

In a network I have 3 linux systems. 2 of those are suse systems and the 3rd one is a linux firewall/router (not suse). The suse systems are a 9.2 and a 9.3 system. The outgoing ip/ethernet transmission speed of the 9.3 suse system is only 1.0-2.0 MB/s as reported by scp. While for the incoming traffic it is 6.0MB/s. This 6.0MB/s speed is measured for the other systems (fw <-> 9.2) as well. I wonder what can be reason why the outgoing speed is so low. The network connection has been switched to another network port, but the outgoing speed remains low. Does anyone have an idea what can be the reason for the low outgoing speed? Can this be caused by a bad network card, a hanging network process (although the system is almost idle)?? -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

logrotate.conf .. typo??

Can someone tell me why my logs in the /var/log/syslogs arent rotating? All logs in /var/log are rotating fine. I've been doing some heavy patching of RHEL4AS from RedHat and a reboot seem to resolve the nfs4 mount capability. Whew I was being to lose respect for Red Hat. Well, nfsv4 support in Linux is still being finished. Rest assured that we are working on the support, but it is not clear if it will make 10.0... It will definitely make 10.1. Good to know. Thanks. In case others are wondering, using a NetApp nfs4 exported share, I was able to perform "mount -t nfs4 ..." out of the box successfully from Fedora Core 3 (64-bit). Oddly, this command failed for Red Hat Enteprise 4 AS (32-bit). I guess it WAS premature after all. (I'm sure there is some hackery on RHEL4 that would make it work but the fact that it failed out of the box and FC worked is abismal.) Well, I just installed Suse 10 and I was hugely disappointed to see that the mount command does not support "nfs4" in the vfstype option. Does anyone know if nfs4 will be included in any of the upcoming beta relases of 10? How to stop an aborted print job?

Know that it is a topic from time to time but googling the list did not bring a solution. I started a print job with the wrong printer and stopped the printer. Went to the Kjobviewer and put the printjob in the trash can. Remembered that the printer should be killed two or three times in order to flush out the remains of the job. Did not work this time. How get I rid of the remains?
