Where to get libcairo-1.0.so.0

This package is required by a lot of gnome packages (like gnome-session 2.11.90-1) in apt, but it appears that the packages needed (pango and cairo) are not updated and will therefore not provide the libcairo package. Can not install Beta1 on IBM t43

Hello all!! When i finish with disc 1 and the pc reboots, i get "no operating system" error. This laptop has a 80gig drive, 1gig ram and a finger reader. Just thought i would mention that as maybe some of these devices are stopping the laptop from booting after disc 1? Can anyone help with this issue? Chris

Novice boot problems

My ignorance has got me into a mess that is quite beyond me. I got a new upgrade box some time ago, with a microsoft partition taking up the whole disc, but no operating system installed. I reduced the microsoft partition and installed Suse personal 8.2 (from CD) with no problems and used it for quite a while. I then deleted the linux partitions and tried to install windows 98 in a 10Mb partition. The CD would get as far as displaying installation options, but when I made a choice all I got then was the cursor blinking in the top left corner. I get the same result with a dos floppy boot disc with fdisk.exe on it - as is the case with any dos or microsoft boot process I have tried. I then reinstalled Suse (using the whole 40 Mb's) and have been using it trouble free for some months now, but I don't have the knowledge to do quite everything I want to. Even if I do work out how to do everything in Suse, (which I would much prefer) I would like to understand what I have got myself into. I presume this is all obvious to most, so if some kind person could point me in right direction I would be grateful. Keith PS - would it be possible to reduce the native linux partition by 10 Mb and install windows 98 in that while Suse is still installed ?

Compiling SSH from ssh.org on Pro 9.3

I'm new to this list, so forgive me if this has been discussed before... My shop uses SSH 3.2.9.1 from SSH.org as the dominant ssh client/server, and when I compile it on SuSE Pro 9.3 with gcc (v. 3.3.5 20050117, the default), there are no errors, but when I try to ssh to another host (running ssh 3.2.9.1 server), I get this when trying to use hostbased authentication: warning: Received error 1, message: "Unable to load host keys.". Using an ssh 3.1.2 client compiled on RedHat works without error, and I get the same results whether I use the old key (this was previously running RedHat) or a newly generated one. All permissions are ok -- all keys and directories have the same ownerships and permissions as all our other installations. And I get the error when logging into both Linux and Solaris boxes. Any idea what could cause this error? And why would a compile with the exact same options I've used everywhere else give errors here and nowhere else? ------------ Julie Napp Unix Admin julie.napp(a)jhuapl.edu

Turning off vDSO support in the kernel.

Hello, There have been a lot of architecture specific bugs in vDSO implementation, so is there any way we can turn off this support with out rebooting the kernel with vdso=0 option?? Looking forward to hear from you, Vamsi kundeti

two things: * while using bottorent right now, I can't use any browser :-(. the 102kib/s of my upload is probably the clue, but I don't know how to finetune this (mail goes well anyway ;-) * the MD5SUMS file contains a "MD5SUM" line (without the final "S"). Chance is there is an error in the md5file itself. Passing parameters to wine apps

I'm trying to set up Word Viewer in Wine. While I can run it and even get it to load the document, from the command line, I can't seem to open it, with the document loaded, from the desktop. I've been trying to figure out how to pass the parameter (file name) to the app, in the Contro Center file associations. No matter what I do, I can only open the app, without the document loaded. Any ideas? tnx jk
