USB audio questions

I think I'm being stupid, but I can't work out what I'm doing wrong. I have a built in soundcard that works fine, and an external USB device (Edirol UA-3FX). The USB device seems to be recognized and Yast is willing to send "test" sound to it. However, Yast doesn't seem to know there's the possiblity of input from it, and none of they sound utilities I've tried (audacity, aplay/arecord, play/record) are able to drive it. All these programs complain that they're unable to "set 8 bit sample" or 16 bit sample. This device, I believe, does 24 bit. Audacity doesn't allow me a list of devices, I have to relink /dev/dsp to /dev/dsp1 and then it complains that it can't set the necessary sample rates. What should I be doing? Gigabyte ethernet port? - general question

Does anyone know the General status \ abilities with SuSe 9.3 and using the Gigabyte ports on a motherboard (such as Gigabyte's)? Is it now stable and full duplex or do we have delays still? thanks scsijon

libmad rpm missing...

hi openSuse people! I'm missing the libmad rpms (which where aways avail on older suses), is there a reason why they are not avail in opensuse10.0 beta3? from their homepage: http://www.underbit.com/products/mad/ Because MAD is available under the terms of the GPL, it can be freely used in other GPL software, and is also available for immediate evaluation prior to obtaining a commercial license. regards, Mike

[opensuse] Beta 3 x86_64 Online Update

Hi, Installed the x86_64 version of Beta3 yesterday afternoon. Looks good and seems to be running stable with no major errors. The one problem I am having though is with online update through YaST. Is there a repository I should be pointed at for this version for online updates to work as in YOU I only have 8 or so German sites none of which appear to have the directory structures which YOU is trying to access? Dear list, could someone help me. I have one program which works only in Windows. For that reason program is installed on MS Windows 2003 server. I am using rdesktop to connect to this server. But suddenly I get notification that my account will end after some time. And now I cannot connect to server at all... What to do? What I have to do to connect to server? I have to put something on my side or in the server? Audrius

You might want to rephrase the question, since most installs are either from CD/DVD or from ftp. How are you going about installation from a HDD? I am confused. How to see print log from samba

Hi All, Right now I share my printers using Suse 9.3 -> hub -> jet direct. People print their file using samba. Now, i want to see who's printing what file in certain period (eg. 15.00 pm).
