Help with finding lib modules

Hello all, I just dl'd a package called Directory Administrator that I found on Freshmeat. When I went to install there were unresolved dependancies so I searched for them on the Suse Install and Source Dvd's and could not find them. The files / modules are libcrypto.so.4 and libssl.so.4 . Where would I look to find these? Thanks Mike

Red Carpet vs. SuSE Pro 9.2

I was using Red Carpet to maintain my workstation running SuSE Pro 9.1. That box died (motherboard toasted) and I'm getting ready to install 9.2 on a new box, but I can't find any information on an appropriate version of Red Carpet. If I go by what I found via Google, Red Carpet is now only available as part of several commercial (i.e. I have to shell out some more of my hard-earned cash) offerings. Is there a (free) source of Red Carpet for SuSE Pro 9.2? Cheers, Gordon Keehn

Location of particular apt rpms

red-carpet question

After adding localhost to the access crontrol list and then entering sux and my root password, I called red-carpet only to be greeted with this error message: Error importing gtk: could not open display What does this mean? dj tuchler

Smartlink modem

Hello all I don't know if this topic has been already treated (in that case, don't kill me ;-)) I installed SuSE 9.1 on my notebook. During the installation yast detected the internal modem and installed smartlink package. Well, if I query the modem (kppp) it answers, but when I try a connection this fails with NO DIALTONE message. Obviously that modem works fine under XP. Ciao emilio

Enterprise solution with handheld(s)

Hey all, An opportunity has come up for me to pitch an opensource solution. I'd like any advice I can get. Here is my situation. <background> My primary responsibility is programming. I maintain the computers/network for the admin side of the building in my spare time. We have a SuSE 8.2 Pro box running qmail and internal php/mysql app. We have an NT4 Server for Domain authentication and Shared Drive. The president of the company uses a laptop and palm to do most of his business. When on the road, he'll use his dialup account to a local provider here to access his email because it is too complicated to lookup and provide a local number. He is wanting to get rid of his palm because he gets duplicate entry's when his secretary's sync to their computers to keep his schedule with Outlook. He had bought a CE device at one time but ended up not using it because it was too complicated. </background> After talking with him this morning, and finding out that he is wanting a different Palm device (has 5's now) because of duplication. My fist thought was to enable some sort of collaboration ~server/software~ to keep his schedule and docs in sync with his secretary's. Isn't there an Enterprise server from SuSE that does collaboration? We have wireless (802.11) here and there is mostly WiFi available when he travels. Is there a handheld that is Linux based that would work with Maildir format mail client? Is there a handheld that is Linux based that would run Crossover Office? Is there a handheld that is Linux based that would sync with SuSE's collaboration offering of Calendar, Email, and Contacts? Thanks in advance B-)

Recompile Kernel

Hello, I'm trying to recompile my kernel a get the following error when running the 'make dep' : make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/src/linux-2.4.21-273/include/linux/autoconf.h', needed by `/usr/src/linux-2.4.21-273/include/linux/modules/signal.ver'. Stop I've successfully installed the kernel-source package but the file /usr/src/linux-2.4.21-273/include/linux/modules/signal.ver is missing. I've run the 'make mrproper' and make menuconfig to create my own configuration. Does somebody if there is someting special to do on suse distrib before recompiling the kernel ??
