OOo 1.1 error on opening sxc file

Hi, I have 'developed' a spreadsheet system that allows me to keep track of my online time, costs and MB in/out on a yearly basis, from data exported from the kppp log viewer ie I have one file for 2003 and another for 2004. A single line, of 4 columns, in the 2003 spreadsheet is linked to the 2004 one so that the yearly averages can be carried across from year to year. Each time I open the 2004 spreadsheet the averages from 2003 are also included and hence the 2003 spreadsheet also opens. This is something I have accepted BUT in the last couple of days the averages have not been imported from 2003, nor has the 2003 spreadsheet been opened as OOo reports an error as listed below: Error loading document <doc path and name> Read error Format error discovered in sub document styles.xml at 2.39117{row,col) Each year has approx 16 sheets in it and those containing data only have >100 rows of information in 8 columns. Where do I start in solving this OOo error? I would of course prefer not to lose the data for 2003. I have tried rebooting and then opening the sxc file with no luck. I have looked at OOo help for 'Validity of Cell Contents' and others, also with no help. Konqueror in 3.3, gwenview

Since my last kde 3.3 update, clicking through a weblink into an image uses (according to View - View mode) gwenview rather than the embedded viewer. Gwenview doesn't work, pictures never appear. I was happy with the embedded viewer anyway. The view menu allows you to change back to the embedded viewer for that instance, but the next image you click on opens gwenview again. Anyone know how to set the embedded viewer as default like it used to be? Anyone know why/how gwenview is broken, and why anyone thinks it ought to default to that. Hello All, I am currently installing apt on my 9.1 box at my house. I would like this box to be as stable and secure as possible. I am having trouble discerning which components I would like to have in my /etc/apt/sources.list file. So far I have base update security usr-local-bin kde mozilla samba3 funktronics packman and wine. How can I tell what other components I might want to use? Thanks, d33p th1nk3r

Compilied kernel since 2.6.7 makes ide problems with hda6

Hi I have bought a new laptop. It's a GERICOM Hummer with a pentium 4 (hyperthreading) and 80GB HD with winxp. So I have installed SuSE Linux 9.1 also on it. I did also buy a usb mouse for it. But it didn't work. After some investigation I did understand that the hole usb system was not working. (rccoldplug restart and rchotplug restart could not help!!!) I did get the following error messages from /var/log/messages kernel: usb 1-3: new low speed USB device using address 4 kernel: usb 1-3: config 1 has an invalid interface number: 1 but max is 0 kernel: usb 1-3: can't read configurations, error -22 those errors were also posted in some other messages: http://forum.hardware.fr/hardwarefr/OSAlternatifs/sujet-41318-1.htm and also http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2004/06/msg04134.html and the follow up http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2004/06/msg03866.html and I tried the advice to compile a newer kernel. But I did get some bad harddisc problems. Look inside dmesg file. It can be found at: http://www.nwn.de/ebartels/linux/2.6.9_rc2_mm3_2h20_short.txt I did reduce the error messages. The original file is 7095 lines long. Those errors were gone if i did boot the default suse kernel or the 2.6.6 kernel again. Does it only work with old reiserfs partions ? 9. If I did the reiserfsck program on the /dev/hda6 partions at the kernels 2.6.7 - 2.6.9-rc2-mm3 it gives all the errors as seen below in the dmesg output and so I could not check that partion with those kernels. It seems to be a hardware problem of the harddisc but after booting with the default SuSE9.1 Kernel all hda6 errors are gone. Everything was mount fine. So I thing this can't be a harddisc problem!? Is there something wrong with the ide driver ? Is there something wrong with the reiserfs driver ? Is there something wrong with .. ? What else ? But why can the system boot the root partion? It is also an reiserfs partition! Does somebody know what I can to, test, analyse, solve this error ? What is Suse 9.1.42 ?

The Suse 9.1 update tree now includes 9.1.42, which among other things contains the kernel-2.6.8 package. When and why was the split to 9.1.42 and should we apply these 'updates' to suse pro 9.1 machines? Will 'you' automatically pull these updates? This is of interest, because we want kernel-2.6.8 which is the first to incorporate the 3w-9xxx driver. Bash Q: how to keep a script from failing when a var is undef or empty

Hello, One thing I run into all the time with bash script is: I get a script that works perfectly when every thing is right, and is supposted to aleart me when something is wrong - often bashed on whether or not a particular var says something. But often the script fails because bash trips out over trying to test an empty var. For example: #!/bin/sh TAPESTATE=`mt -f /dev/st0 status | head -2 |tail -1 | cut -d " " -f4` if [ ${TAPESTATE} == "512" ]; then READY="yes" else READY="no" && echo "No tape in oe1 tape drive" | mail -s "Oe1 tape error" jw(a)mailsw.com fi if [ ${READY} == "yes" ]; then tar cplvf /dev/st0 -T /etc/mcmurray_backup.lst || echo "Tar failed during oe1 tape backup job" | mail -s "Oe1 backup job tar error" jw(a)mailsw.com else echo "Script failure in oe1 tar backup job" | mail -s "Oe1 backup job - error in script" jw(a)mailsw.com exit 1 fi As long as there's a tape in the tape drive it works out fine, but when there's not a tape, "mt -f /dev/st0 status" give the response: mt: /dev/st0: No medium found And apparently sends it to sterr so that $TAPESTATE remains empty (null). Now instead of just calmly passing on to the next section: else READY="no" && echo "No tape in oe1 tape drive" Bash give a response like this: usr/local/sbin/tape_bakup.sh: line 5: [: ==: unary operator expected And I've tried eq also.
