Networking DHCP questions and problems

I'm having trouble getting one of my suse 8.2 computers to ping a DHCPd computer on my network. I have a Speedstream 5861 DSL modem acting as the dhcp server. It's address is 192.168.200.254. I have it handing out numbers from 192.168.200.2 to 192.168.200.9. My winXP machine (devel2) is set to dhcp, it's numbers are assigned from the modem as follows: IP Address: 192.168.200.2 Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.200.254 DHCP Server: 192.168.200.254 Lease Obtained: 7/29/2003 1:29:15 PM Lease Expires: 8/5/2003 1:29:15 PM DNS Server: 192.168.200.254 WINS Server: 192.168.200.50 I have samba set up to be WINS server on what i call Lx1 (192.168.200.50 static assigned). I have another suse machine Lx10 (192.168.200.233 static assigned). The nameservers for both of these machines is set to the DSL modem 192.168.200.254. All computers get on network, and internet just fine. But, I can't get any of the linux computers to ping the winXP Devel2 computer that gets it's numbers by DHCP. What am I doing wrong. Network neighborhood, and nmblookups work good from any computer, but "ping devel2" from any of the linux computers doesn't work. Also, I have a printer on the network that is on a different subnet 192.168.170.1, so I set the netmask on the rest of the computers to 255.255.0.0, in order to get on that subnet. Blackbox Command Key Bindings

Does anyone have command key bindings working in the version of blackbox included with SuSE 8.2? I set them up using bbconf, but there's no response to the respective key presses. Following is my ~/.bbkeysrc file, which looks to be in order, as far as I can tell. Any help would be appreciated. # bbkeys config file, automagically generated by bbconf. Using SuSE on supercomputers

I was just reading this article: http://www.itworld.com/Comp/1437/030730ibmsupercomp/ which describes one hell of a cluster, which will be running SLES8. I just wondered, how is SLES made to run on such a thing? Is SLES really designed for huge clusters as well as the single CPU boxes it normally runs on? Can you pop the CD in and expect it to recognise it has over 2000 processors to puzzle out? Doesn't sound too likely to me. :o) -- > eatapple core dump

Anti-spam software for sendmail relay ?

I am trying to find a freeware e-mail spam filtering tool for a SuSE 7.2 server at work. I've had a look but none of the ones I've seen seem to be able to cope with my particular situation. My setup consists of a SuSE 7.2 box running sendmail which relays mail to and from another box running Lotus Domino (under W2K). i.e. all mail sent from the Domino server goes via sendmail on the SuSE box to the outside world. Incoming mail comes in from the ISP via POP3 from many mailboxes using fetchmail. This mail is forwarded to the Domino server via sendmail. No mail is delivered locally on the SuSE box, sendmail ONLY acts as a relay. Spamassassin and nearly all the other anti-spam solutions and how-tos I've seen all seem to require local mail delivery at the end of the process. I haven't seen any solutions which can cope with my situation. I am currently using mailfilter which does catch some of the spam but it is a very basic solution and I'm looking for something a bit more intelligent. Can anyone point me in the right direction ? SuSE 8.2 and Kissmet/AirSnort

I'm trying to get Kissment and Airsnort (with Orinoco Gold card) to run on my SuSE box, to no avail. I've tried the orinoco patched drivers from Shmoo, and everything seems to compile and install properly, but I don't see any of the AP that I have to play with. Themes updates redux

I've stopped announcing every time I upload a new or updated theme to the site, because there were simply far toio many, but I'm going to do occasional announcements, and this is the first of these redux's... So, the following themes and engines are now available at www.usr-local-bin.org gnome-themes-extras 0.2 with some fixed icons QtPixmap/Geramik 0.26 - this matches the Keramik and ThinKeramik themes of KDE Galaxy 0.2 - This is Mandrake's new theme Mist - This is the engine required by the Mist theme included with 8.2 QtCurve 0.10 - this is a KDE/GNOME theme set that is similar to Red Hat's Bluecurve In addition, the latest base gnome-icon-theme is now available on the Core page, I strongly recommend this update, as it's a big improvement over the version in 8.2.
